Hi, im been wanting to get an electronic drum kit..

i've heard alot of hype and seen several reviews for the V-series..

i was wondering, where shld i go to if i wanna check out this particular range of drums?

as in physical shops.. majority seems to be recommending Swee Lee..

i have two worries..

1) the technical aspect of these drums..
e.g: prone to rusting? etc..

2) price cos i dun wanna get ripped..

i would be utterly grateful if you cld provide any significant info, pertaining to this line of drums..

Look forward to your replies..

why do u want an electronic drum set? acoustic one too loud for ur neighbours? i rly strongly recommend you get a proper drum set unless u rly have no choice

and this thread should be in the drum>gear section fyi

just my humble opinion towards the matter

onli swee lee sells roland drums in singapore (authorized distrubeter)
well since it made of rubber it wont rust with the exception of the stands which are made of metal(steel) and ya u nid to clean the pads often..

price? about 2k onwards for the td3kv 3k+(?) for the td6 and 6k+for the td12

i'd recommend getting a acoustic kit first..

if u ran out of options, and ur only choice of good electronic drums is at the V-series, than i might suggest that buying an electronic kit deals with many aspects.

1) u don't need to worry bout rusting coz rubber or mesh pads and plastic module/consoles won't.

2) u need to start worrying bout the aspects of the electronic pads, modules, wires and etc etc getting spoilt coz once it's broken, only swee lee can deal with it so if u think swee lee a rip off and bout something outside from them, than good luck fixing the thing.

3) For my personal opinion, only the flagship td-20 roland sets are worth the buy coz u get mesh heads, 14" size pads and they have much more added features and sounds where u can use it but it would cost u 10,000 dollars not including tax and with that kinda money, u can get a high-range kit i.e a dw kit and have extra for high-end cymbals...

might i suggest to u that buying a acoustic kit has more pros than cons comparing it to buying an electronic kit..

most to most, u've just gotta have earplugs, and ur neighbours just have to bear with u..!

just my $0.02.. if all fails mate, just get a medelli set for like 700 at ranking.

re: appreciation..

Firstly, i wld like to thank those who have replied..

i have to say, all the replies were extremely helpful..

in all honesty, i did wanna get the TD-20..

but after hearing that it costs like 10 grand, im quite taken aback..

well, thing is, i wld love to have an acoustic drumset..

however, livin in a HDB has its own set of bla bla bla bla bla..

and besides, i don't reely wanna present an opportunity to my neighbours, to commence their 'i call Police lorrrrrrrrrr' antic..

I did do some research on the Medelli kit..

it didn't appeal to me at all..

Im quite stuck with the TD-20..

i suppose i'll have to go down to Swee Lee later today, and have a look ard..

cos passion for the kit, can and will overcome the issue of cost..

Thank You..

I've been playing TD3 for the past 1 year half. It's good. many pros than cons such as, you can whack all you want without bothering other people. I play thrash and metal always. look at their website rolandus.com and see Johnny rabb play the td3it's quite musical actually. it costs very much more cheaper than td20. unless you're living in your own plot of land, go for electronic. Heck, even in the last 2 issues of Rhythm, Vinnie Paul of Pantera even advocate on getting an electronic set if you are living with a lot of people in your surrounding.
but a word of precaution. mesh head and rubber pad feels totally different, so I suggest you go for the mesh pads.
Once in a while go to a studio and play acoustic drums.
Cheers.

i went there to check out the td - 3kw .... it price is around 2.3 k it sound and sensative is real cool ... they are having a special offer now go and check it out ......
i though of getting one ... prevent my neighbours from calling the police .....
