New member
... Young bands being new, budding ones looking for, specifically, gig experience and a compilation album release.

Unveiled Productions is an organisation with sights of providing a platform to showcase talents of new local bands. We are currently looking at producing a compilation album featuring several bands that play rock/alternative music (nothing too heavy), as well as an album launch gig for those involved. The compilation album is tentatively due to be released early October.

If you are interested and want to be heard, please email the following to unveiledprodz@gmail.com

1) band profile
2) band contact
3) a decent sounding recorded song that you want on the compilation album (so that we can hear how you sound like)

if you are in any doubt, please do not hesitate to email us or post your questions here!

i would have sent it in if my band had enough money to record... Anyway. this is yet another step in the structuring of our music industry! early october will be next month leh, isn't it too fast?

Questions...
1)Are language of the songs restricted to English or can it be in other language as well?
2)Wat abt copyrights to the songs?
3)Do the bands get a cut to album sales?
4)If a band do not have originals, can they play cover songs?

ok..these questions so far...

my band is thinking of sending..but first...
can u elaborate on what you mean by band profile?

hello again,

apologies for the late response but here are the answers to the queries -

1) october; isn't it too fast?
- well we have been planning this for a few months now, all that's needed to complete the project is for bands to partake in the event. also, each band will only be required to submit 1 original, which is relatively cheap (in a sense) to record in studio, compared to recording an entire album which could come up to thousands. that's the idea, most young bands cannot afford a whole album, this compilation could be a starting point for the bands

2) compilation album sales goes to funding of gigs
- yes

3) language of songs
- only in English

4) copyrights to the songs
- after submitting your recorded original for the compilation and performing it in public, we will give every band involved a written statement, which you can later bring to Compass (copyright association of Singapore) for verification to claim your rights.

5) bands getting a cut to album sales
- unfortunately, there will be no profit cuts to this event. besides playing in the launch show, the bands only need to submit an original recording consisting of data files and also the mixed audio file. we will get these files to the pre mastering and final mix stages in the studio. bands will not need to pay for production of the compilation album and the launch show. a breakdown of all costs will be given to all bands at the end of it all

6) playing of cover songs allowed?
- no, we will not accept cover songs. that would be infringement of rights...

7) band profile
- simply submit a short write up of your band's history, experiences and genre of music played

hmmm i hope this answers all questions, if there are others, please post them up!

here's some additional info - we will be short listing a maximum of 10 bands for the compilation album. also, those who have already emailed us your demo, thank you!!! give us some time to listen to them and we will have a reply sent ASAP

I think the cause is good..and its nice to see such a good response on this post ....hmmm i believe bands need each other to rise...its hard going solo...and begging for gigs..sucking up and shit like that....the total cost of actually producing a good album in every sense such as manufacturing, marketing and stuff is extremely costly..unless your gonna photocopy your cd sleeve like some of the albums at roxy.the overall cost would run up to over a few thousands...Electrico has poured over a six digit sum of money into their self promo...which is great...in terms of passion and what their willing to give....i doubt they have made back that amount...

i think spending 300-400 bucks to record one song ...get it out on a compilation be it diy or not..with the friends fans and family members of the other 9 bands listening to it and actually knowing u exist is quite good promo...

noting in mind that...i doubt the organisers will actually making anything..and their will be taking a extremely huge risk financially in promoting upstarts .... i just hope to compilation will be that expensive...its ok if everyone sacrifices on the so called "royalites" and profits..cos if anyone wants to walk into any store and buy a cd just to take a listen to new music..no ones gonna pay a crap load of money just to take that chance...

how much royalties can anyone expect? for the balloon heads...if u tink ur song is gonna make the compi sell over 1000 copies...then i believe you guys should try making it on your own cos the media will be all over you like a w*hore

cos there are bound to very enthusiastic people who are willing to sacrifice a new pair of levi's just to do this..

my 2 cents worth...boy am i gonna get stick for stating facts.

ah pey, yup we're looking at rock/alternative music, nothing too heavy... therefore it excludes black/thrash/speed metal, hardcore and the likes of it. perhaps we will open up to other heavier genres the next time round

update - we've already emailed replies to those who sent us songs... do check your mail! in the mean time, keep those songs coming in! :smt106

Hello, I have two questions

1)What is the "deadline" on this thing? As in, what is the latest date possible to send the required stuff?

2)Would grunge be considered too heavy, because you are being extremely vague when you said nothing too heavy and that you want a "rock/alternative" band.

cinonyx, please email us a song at unveiledprodz@gmail.com

blank, we are trying to keep our options open. how about you email the original that you want on the compilation album, we take a listen and get back to you on it? the launch is tentatively set in early october, therefore we would prefer to have things finalised by mid september.

i will post the confirmed dates here when plans are set in place :smt001

greetings once again,

unveiled productions would like to thank everyone who had sent demos in response to this thread. we have decided on a list of finalised bands and we should be contacting you guys for a meet up soon. the rest of the bands that are not finalists will be kept in view for the time being. however, we are still looking for one or two more bands to complete the line up.

this is the last call for you young bands out there - send us a song if you are interested in the production of a compilation album!

the email address is  unveiledprodz@gmail.com :yawinkle:

hey francesca(san?) you take forever to reply emails man. daryl from Triad here. we'll be recording the song we wanna submit this coming friday at blackisle i wonder if it'll be too late?

daryl,

nope i'm not san :p i suppose the reason why San has not replied your previous email is because we want to try to work with bands who submit their originals but do not have professionally recorded songs as well. we are in the middle of working something out for such bands and my apologies for not having emails replied as fast as they should be... but fret not, more information in emails will definitely be sent to bands in the finalised list as soon as we have things on our side confirmed down to the detail.

as we are still looking for more bands to participate, getting your band's song recorded this friday should not be too late for submission :)

Hi. Well our band recorded our song at blackisle. Mailed you guys but I somehow got a feeling that you guys dont check that often hehe.

so we were told by the studio that it would take an hour plus to export all our tracks in audio. i was wondering if the studio that you;re gonna send our recordings to for mastering will be using Nuendo too? would save the studio a lot of trouble thanks!

hey daryl, from what i know, nope we won't be using nuendo. sorry for the slow email responses but not to worry, i have already informed the person in charge (of technicalities) to send a reply ASAP!

updates - i have just spoken with the other organisers and we have decided to postpone the gig/compilation album launch as we have been trying to collaborate this event with one of the local bands' album launch as well and it turns out that more time will be needed to form a liaison. hence the hold up... bands please be assured that we will not take you guys along for a ride with empty promises. just sit tight for now! :smt025
