want new axe, not a strat. budget ~$300

Hey guys its finally time for me to get a new guitar.

My dad is paying for it, so there is a budget and thats about $300.

I have been looking at some used guitars and found some nice ones but they were all sold or the dealer wont neg a cheaper price for me.

I want something like an LP in black.I have found one but its an epiphone and is about $80 too much for me

What can you guys reccomend for about $300, new or used.

I also dont like guitars in a similar shape to a strat, like ive seen some ibanezes.

Plan to buy one this weekend!

for 235 , u might wan consider getting the Sx starter pack LP from davis ... subversion rated it pretty good in his books and i thought its really quite a decent model , esp at tt kinda price..
