Hello people,

Which one should i get?
Wampler - (super plextortion/pinnacle 2 - both sounds great)

OR

Seventh Heaven

can the seventh heaven do what the wampler pedals do? because i heard it has many knobs to play around with and you can get lots of variations from it.

yea... and i'm looking for a pretty smooth distortion and not heavy distortion.

Thanks!

Looks like you've made the decision already eh.

maybe he want something to have wampler + more nice sound and his thinking if seventh heaven might be the one, since there's no shop selling that pedal, so cannot try the seven heaven

i havent tried the 7th before but your best options are to either go and try it if u know someone who has it or check out demos of it on youtube.. they have decent quality stuff there. the demos will give u an idea on how it sounds.

orrr...u can just ask goose about it.

try pedal must try use your own guitar. I don't trust youtube videos lol need to hear live

of course, its best to try the pedal with your whole rig but thats not possible most of the time.

but if youtube vids are all u have then bobian what.

I've owned both the Wampler Pinnacle II and the Seventheaven (still do, for the Seventheaven). They're very different creatures, work very differently, and react very differently. I wouldn't presume to know all the abilities of both pedals, but since people are getting desperate, here goes.

From what I can tell, and from what many people have also said, the Wampler Pinnacle recreates much of EVH's "brown sound". Beauty of the thing is that it can recreate the sound on almost any amp, with almost any guitar. Its good for creating that nicely compressed, saturated tone, with "smooth distortion" (heck with the adjectives, there's never a good word to describe tone, go listen for yourself).

The Seventheaven, on the other hand, serves to give you a more transparent tone. Yes, you hear your guitar's characteristics over the distortion. Different guitars, different amps, different settings, all different sounds. Yes, your picking / attack can also be heard over the distortion (includes bad playing / bad habits). Smooth... mmm... depends on your playing style I guess...

But then again, what the heck does smooth mean?! Compressed saturated distortion = smooth?

Given the financial ability, I would get the Wampler Pinnacle II again, but then again, both are different creatures, cannot get one, and hope to achieve the other.

Likui is right!
and thanks naviros for the detailed information!

But, after hearing all the reviews and demos on seventhheaven, i found it to be heavy sounding distortion pedal (like metallica's heavy bass sounding distortion).

And my smooth sounding distortion actually meant, something like in the song "Through the Rain" by Cinderella. -

Around 1:07 there, where theres a power chord being played/held for quite awhile.

Thanks!

Reviews show you what the pedal can do.
If you want low gain, you should be thinking about overdrives rather than distortion. That being said, most distortions can do low gain sounds, but most sound muddy imo. Unless, of course, you stack them, which totally defeats the purpose.

let me do goose bro a favour..
goose doesnt like people comparing the seventh with the wampler...

have you heard the sound samples?
another thing to read up on google will be "headroom" and "compression" and "Amp dynamic response".
The seventh responses like a real tube amp. dont know the difference between tube amps (like the huge marshalls, mesa's and whatevers) please google. they are nothing like a marshall mg15.

Another thing to do is to try to listen to both pedals first hand. the wampler can be tested at some shops easily im sure, (be sure to run into a decent amp) but the seventh.. im sure you can arrange a time with goose for him to run you through. it really sounds phenomenal when he explains to you how to use it and trying it out with different voltages.

I'm not sure about the waiting time for a seventh or how urgently you need a distortion pedal, but for the money the seventh is so much more worth it compared to the wampler. arrange a date with goose to let him talk you through, you will also learn lots of things about geetaring and improve as a player=)

As many others will tell you TS, it all boils down to what you are looking for in the pedals you've listed out as your options.

The Wampler like the above post is supposed to emulate the typical Marshall JMP Plexi Tone used by many artists such as Van Halen and Angus Young.
It may not be the best pedal for this purpose (subjective) out there but its definitely a good pedal. I used to be a fan of the Plexi Tone and have come across various pedals that can get that sound; The Hao Rust Driver, The Menatone King Of The Brits, OLC Circuits Thor, Etc etc..
What you must gather here is if you are expecting the Wampler to do things that it was not made for ( I.e out of the Plexi ball park ) then its not the pedal for you.

The 7th on the other hand is a versatile pedal in various ways. Not purely in terms of being dynamic alone, but the 7th also offers many options for tone shaping. The bass response you get from it is really outstanding making it sound 'amp like' as compared to many other pedals. The 7th mind you, can ALSO get the Plexi Tone and more. ( I've tried it. Ask Mr Ized. )

If you're looking for a versatile drive pedal that can provide you with more than enough options, the 7th is for you. If you're looking for more one trick ponies i would recommend you go for the Wampler. Ultimately it boils down to what you are looking for in a pedal.

I don't use either but i've tried both and both are great pedals. Just remember the pedal market caters to different people cause its so damn saturated. Look at your budget, look at what you're trying to achive, and then look at which pedal suits you. This applies for everything.
