Wah Pedal Improvement??

Hi people, just sharing an idea that I'm having, of which I would gladly love some reponse to it.

In case anyone gets annoyed, this idea that I've thought about it completely just in a spur of moment and COMPLETELY by my own mind. I'm is not taking it from somewhere else and claiming its mine so pardon me if you've come across it before/its already in use  and peace out.

I've tried a couple of Wah pedals before (Jim Dunlop, Ibanez, Vox etc.) and I must admit, being able to utilise a wah pedal to its maximum potential requires a fair bit of skill and practice. I was just wondering that instead of using your feel to level the pedal up and down to control its sweep, a spring could be mounted between the lever and pedal base.

It works something like a clothes peg, when you want to open the peg, you have to apply pressure but when you want to close it, you just have to release. Likewise, when you activate your wah, the level immediately pivots to an open position by itself instead of you having to move your feet upwards (works somewhat like the small spring beneath the footswitch of your Boss pedals)

I thought that by this, advantages are that its less stressful on your feet as they wont need to keep moving up and down, and that there can be a more even and smoother control of your wah sweep because all you need to do is just apply and release presure.

Hmm.

The 95Q has the spring, and I've modified my own to remove the nasty delay between the wah sound and the normal signal sound... have been using it for the past 3 years

Crawldaddy, is there a delay? mine seems to kick in instantly the moment i push down on the pedal.. the only problem is when i release it, there's quite an audible transition between the wah and normal signal..

Hmm.

^^ exactly what I meant, I beg your pardon for not being clear about it. I found the delay between the wah signal and my normal signal after I put my foot away to be very annoying... so I just did a simple mod, and voila!
