W/6105 frets

6105 frets are slim frets but rather tall, almost as tall as a jumbo if I'm not wrong.

oh...jumbo frets r tall n wide right?
are W/6105 frets to aid ppl with fat fingers so they can play at the higher frets more easily?

bin, btw the normal jumbos and 6105, there is little difference. Its not like jumbo and fender frets.

Check the jim dunlop website for fret sizes.

The main plus point of the 6105 over junbo is that, as the fret wears down, intonation is more stable because there is the string contacts less surface area of the thinner 6105 fret. But of course, only if you have super ears like Vai and Satriani.

er,wud u mind explaining...
haha...sorry...
thx shredcow...

Jumbo frets are fat. So when properly crowned and all, the strings contact a little area of the jumbo, so its accurate. When it wears, the jumbo flattens out and the string now contacts a much larger area.... less accurate.

6105 frets are more uniformed in height, not like jumbos which get big at the base. Hence, its more accurate as the fret wears.

Very very very hard to hear IMO.

6105's are stock on Fender SRV and very few other guitars. Get hold of an SRV and try it. It's not an easy guitar to play. Then maybe you will understand what the boys are trying to help you with.

If you want a Gibson style Jumbo fret, then the model is 6130. The Ibanez style, normally, is the 6100 (higher and a little wider than the Gibson). Try out guitars where you know what the fretwire is and then decide for yourself which one suits you.

cheers,

Mark.
