Hey SOFTies,
I'm quite a newbie, so I need help in getting my amp.I saw a 15w VOX amp which I fancied which cost $110+.I'm into rock/pop music like We The Kings, Simple Plan and stuff.Would be using the amp with a Squier Strat.Could anyone enlighten me on which amp I should buy? Budget- below $150, don't need too big an amp. THANKS

I presume you are talking about the vox pathfinder 15?:

If its one of these, then its a good amp for clean stuff but ok for distortion as it isnt too good for anythin heavy like metal. I've had my time with them in school and I can say I can get a decent overdrive sound from my HSS strat and some beautiful cleans for a 15watter, but dont expect too much from it.

U can try the line 6 spider III amp 15w... They are rather good too, and there's a guy here at soft selling it. u may want to check it out...

Personally, I would usually advise people to avoid Line 6 Spider III, as they sound too digital, compared to other amps. It has loads of effects and amp models which you might find cool, like I did when I bought my Fender G-DEC. However, after a while, I realised that it didnt sound too good to my ears and I didnt use it as often (went unplugged) and after I got my PODXT, its mainly sitting in the corner now, collecting dust, even now. How I wished I listened to my friend to get a Roland Cube 30x (which was cheaper also).

Therefore, I'll leave it up to you to try both amps (vox pathfinder/Line 6 spider) at citymusic or even better, a roland cube 15x/Peavy Vypyr 15 at sweelee. However, I think you have to pump in more cash for the roland and peavy.
