will changing them make any difference at all?
wanna upgrade pups and wondering if shd just do these at the same time

yes, difference in the rotating feel of the pot and taper if the pot used are of different taper response

If not sure what it is, just changed it, since already changing pickup, might as well.

1) You will feel better
2) You will think it sounds better
3) You will be happier since theres an overhaul of internal parts inclusive of the pickup
4) You will have new parts, thus extending the lifespan of the pots(unless electronic fails)
5) You will be at ease instead of pondering should be or should not be(with the change of the pots)

imho

different tech different rate, gotta check with them for prices. Replacement rate usually inclusive of the cost for the pot as well, unless you go to them with your own pots bought elsewhere

250k/500k are different resistant value measured in ohm, 250kohm lower then 500kohm and 500kohm higher than 250kohm. 1kohm=1000ohm, so 250k is 250000ohm and 500k is 500000ohm

250k usually for single coil and 500k for humbucker, active pickup utilise 25k pot. Some gibson humbucker equipped geetars come with 300k pot.

The higher the value, the brighter your geetar will sound. With single coil, 250k is a nice value. Using 500k in strat will make you sound brighter and more "glassy"/"piercing" as some might call it.

500k is a nice value for humbucker geetars. Higher value is ok as well.

500k or higher, 1meg eg for single coil is ok as well, just how much you can take glassy/piercing cleans. Higher value pots will see increase in the hiss/noise level as well, do take note if wanna use higher value pot. I have used 1meg pot for single coil geetars and i like it for the brightness. As for the hiss/noise what so ever, iam partially deaf to be bothered by it. YMMV

wow thanks bro. so for strat 250 is best?

250k for strat is what most uses. If dont want that, higher also can.

pots differ in the rotating feel and taper. I have use the typical bought in geetar shops kinda($18 to $40 plus) and cheap pots from simlim tower($1.50 kinda) both also works, but some also spoilt after a while(be it the expensive type or the cheapo type).

imho, other then original fender replacement, offering from gotoh, allparts pots work well also and can be bought from geetar shops round peninsular
