Hi Juno,

Yeah, they all came from around the same era where vocalists in rock bands have superpowers to sing in real high keys and still remain very melodic, like Sebastian Bach, the singer in Cinderella, Mrak Slaughter, Tommy Shaw and such. Too bad not many bands play such stuff anymore. I'd like to try and jam this genre of music...

Hi all,

Newbie vocalist here, just started seriously singing for a band recently. Anyone knows how to train the 'power'? Bit tough for a girl to find the 'harsh' tone needed to sing metal.

those vox of the 80's and early 90's r a rarity nowadays...
some time back when i watch the movie "rockstar" on tv,reminds me of those days man...
some more most of the songs were sung by Mike "steelheart" Matejevic...
but there are a few people i know who still can sing like that here in singapore...

practice and get the techniques rite...
u dun nid to hv a harsh voice to sing metal although most metal singers hv that tone...
itz how u project ur voice and blend it with the songs that u sing that matters...
this is u n not an impersonation of the original artist...
just look at evanesance for example...

I do vocals as well. Covering Cradle of filth, HIM, and abit of dimmu borgir here and there. Noob at vocals, currently trying and testing out ways to create the best sound suited for me.

I sing all genres but don't roar. Urm yeah. =\ So if ever, I'm to sing metal, I will only sing(bruce dickinson style) and not roar(cradle of filth). LOL. ah well, you get what I mean la.

im a vocalist/guitarist for my band...i sing genres ranging from metal('tallica,in flames) to rock(3 doors down,incubus) and soul...influences include obviously metallica,symphony x,sonata arctica,musiq soulchild and stevie wonder(tho i can never reach his notes)

i sing new age too
still a noob, still learning... forever learning lol

early influences were mariah carey, sarah brightman, enya..
listen to more opera now, maria callas, folk music, jazz..
i can't sing like gitane demone or bjork.. sadly
within temptation, nightwish and random pop music, chantel kreviazuk, acoustic-folk like emiliana torrini, all sorts of shtuff...

did a couple of gigs for my band and we're waiting for an album to come out..

i've got a couple of recordings but i'm not sure how to upload it anywhere
