Wah leow.. so fast meh..
Maybe we should think of other ideas to basically evolve this vocal hangout thing?
It's a tricky thing lah, I must admit. It's either we keep it this way - just enjoy and have fun and make merry and get to know each other (which have proven to be quite a successful formula, relatively) OR we go the way of the formal S.O.F.T. monthly events like the workshop thingie. Or at least something like that, without the sponsors and the free drinks and prizes. :mrgreen:
This karaoke and then chill out for drinks is good for those of us who don't know each other and make this opportunity to get to know one another in a relaxed and enjoyable environment, and hear each other sing (not perform) and just basically have fun. And usually, after the karaoke session most will be tired and need to go home to feed dog/cat/mother-in-law.
I think it was nice that the last one I organized, we had the opportunity to visit Actor's pub to sing and jam with the 'live' band. So, perhaps the next hangout we should go to Singapore Arts Cafe@Esplanade or something. I think somebody suggested that and it's a good idea.
Jasmine (Sage) also would really like a session where everyone can share tips on singing, I think. This will be extremely helpful to the newbies who have just started to learn singing and want to hear more from the experienced old farts who have been singing half of their lives, especially like FGL who's basically a rock star swinging every single night. :mrgreen:
So, let's help contribute ideas on how you'd like to basically improve and evolve this event. Just throw up all the ideas, wild and crazy ideas even.
I know it's hard cos at the end of the day, we need to keep the focus but at the same time, we don't really want it to be so serious that everybody will just get scared and freeze cos they feel intimidated.
It's really good that so far, the people I've met here are really friendly and fun, no troublemakers basically. Except for a simple miscommunication between some paparazzi and camera-shy singers. Hehehehehe...
So, let's hear all your ideas.

aDEY! I can test fart the karaoke mikes anytime. I dont swing every night bro - fri & sat at max.... we all have day jobs ya know...

meet / lecture / perform followed by adjournemnt to ktv / dinner etc ....
also Ariel has a great idea with his "support the vocalist" thread where we can inform fellow vox about our gigs etc...

Yup i started it so its more organised. there is a listing of gigs & competitions at the top of the thread. And for each event there is a list of bands & members participating. Enjoy

Our previous KTV hangout had a lot of turn out. Wonder if it gets any bigger, how we gonna pack everybody in for the rock show? lol Some were siting on the floor 2 nites ago. May be we shud remove all the furniture, ya know make some space for a bigger crowd.
And mind we are all singers. What happens when our fans come along. lol
All them lining up outside the karaoke room waiting to see u all perform.
MAy be in next few months line will be all the way up the RETRO looking lift all the way to hard rock cafe. Wow happening heppening. Like having our own show at cash studio.lol
Ok back to REALITY. So if the group gets any bigger, i suggest we either need to book a BIGGER room or split into 2 karaoke outings. This is for the karaoke outing only. As karaoke is good for new singers before they move to the stage.
For chalet or other wilder hang outs yeah yall can pack them all in as much as yall want, like phuture on Friday nites.lol

In reply, yup this would be good idea. May be we can go for afternoon karaoke on Sat or Sun & then proceed to SAC in evening.

SAC actually a good place. But it's a live thing, there's an accoustic guitar and a piano. Well, I think if we should hold it there that would be nice. Fgl can play the piano, I don't mind playing the guitar or vice-versa(But piano I press all the keys as long it sound. Hehehehe!!). If there's others who could play the guitar or piano, by all means...can alway grab 'em and let's jam!! But must check out first if we can do it there.
Well, I'm supportive with all the ideas!

SOME ADD ON / CHANGES:
1. Appoint a "in charge" dude who will organise the event.
2. Host (MC) the event. SHAWNRICK'S THE BOMB- has my vote
3. Decide on a central theme for the next hang out (e.g rock vocals techniques)
4. Plan the list of speakers (Sage "more pressure" , khai, tetra etc etc) ..
5. Plan the list of performers (the usual suspects).
6. Q & A session with speakers / performers / mod
7. Appoint photographer & vid guys to take pix /film the event (make sure sage not in pix or shots)
Pix to be posted in final FR - vids in U-tube.
8. Adjourn for dinner (venue to be decided)
9. Adjourn for karaoke where all can "leggo their fruss"
10. further adjurn for more drinks at pub / club /disco (we can boogie for a change)/ McDonalds (to be advised).
11. "IC" will post the field report on the actual vox hang out here with full details.
If the 1st portion of the hangout is held earlier e.g. around 630pm or so at SAC then the younger members (e.g Vicko) would be able to attend w/o having to get consent forms etc.
Then later in the night, those ofus "of age" can go "parteeeee the nite away...."

Actually, this is a very good idea brought up by Bro fgl. But about being the speakers for vocals, I think I ain't fit for it as I don't have any theory to say about singing. Hehehe!! Just whack and sing lah. No need to train, drink lots of beer and alcohol which worked for me. Hehehe!!
