I'm still around, don't worry, I've been keeping track of the threads and updating what's necessary.
I'd just need to clarify something. In the future, those who want to suggest certain events, please give leads to how we can make the event possible. Us softies are a crazy mix of people from different lifestyles and backgrounds, and I would like to encourage helping out with the sources or knowledge of these places you know of and how it would be appropriate. It would help make the hangouts go more smoothly, and it's not really hard if it's a place / event you have gone to before.
I am grateful to Tetra for contacting Jonathan of SAC for us. I would actually assume those who had the experience in performing at SAC might have helped us out in this as it would have been easier for them.
I wish I have the proper leadership role here to source for things but unfortunately and ultimately, the hangouts are a joint effort, and I believe it is important to keep it that way so as to keep the network going tight. It is, in the end, not led by anyone, but everyone attending and contributing their ideas to it.
I'm sorry if I haven't had the time to source for places, as I am at the moment not working but overseeing some major logistics that requires me to be on standby at certain places, so I don't have the chance to recce. I have only managed to look through places that are within these areas.
I may have started the first Vocal Hangout, but I started it only as a mere vocalist, not an organiser or anyone who had knowledge of organising events. I also did not manage it on my own; everyone at the hangout helped in many ways, be it to keep the beverages going or to keep the gathering social and comfortable for everyone.
I kept it going regardless because in the end, the aim was to unite the vocal softies, make friends, encourage good attitude towards our goals and fellow members, and to share tips and ideas we could not have had the chance to in the forum. This is ultimately the only goal I have for the hangouts, and I would not have carried on with it if there wasn't such a huge support for it.
Our backgrounds were of little concern, whether experienced or inexperienced, regular local vocalists or bathroom singers, a vocalist in a band for a decade, or a vocalist who has never stepped foot in a jamming studio. It is by the fact that we are all sharing the same passion that the hangouts have lasted till today.
I would like to remind everyone who has and who would want to join us in the future to please keep this in mind.
Since the hangouts are predominantly focused on a range of ages as well, I would like to suggest keeping the hangouts clean; If you would like to have a drinking session, for example, we can treat it only as an extension at the end of the hangout instead of adding it to the itinerary k?
