"A performance full of energy and wit"- The New York Times
Following his highly successful recital in Singapore in 2007, renowned concert pianist Kenneth Hamilton, hailed by The Straits Times as "A formidable virtuoso" and by Russia’s Moscow Kommersant Daily as “one of the finest players of his generation" returns to Esplanade to take on a range of thrilling and tuneful bravura piano transcriptions.
Well-known world-wide for his original and revelatory performances, Kenneth ranges from Mendelssohn's fantasy on the famous Irish Song The Last Rose of Summer to the devilish virtuosity of Liszt, via piquant pieces by Tchaikovsky, Gounod and Schubert. The rest of the recital covers a breath-taking range from Bach/Busoni's magnificent D minor Chaconne to the Singapore premiere of Liszt's stunning Hexameron, while also fitting in the premieres of some beautifully lyrical pieces by English composer John Ireland, and by the distinguished Scottish composer Ronald Stevenson who celebrates his 80th birthday this year .
It's difficult to think of a more magical concert to unwind to on Easter Sunday.
