Hey guys, I'm looking for a good violin music school. I'm a beginner so I have no idea which one is good. Would any care to help? I'm looking to be able to improvise on it and if possible, to be able to sing and play. Not sure if I should post here or at the teacher's forum because I just want music school. Thanks for helping!

Are you studying at the moment? My friend's in NUS's orchestra club or something and they actually teach beginner's violin to students who wants to learn the violin. Might your school have something like that?

Oh, I'm not studying now. I have no previous lessons at all. Hmm, that might be a good idea, learning from my school. I'm just worried about the quality of teaching they have. And I don't have a violin too.

Thanks for replying!

Most violin schools teach only classical music. If you do not wish to play classical music or read standard notation (beansprouts) and wish to play fiddle music, you can learn it from http://fiddleguru.com/

That's what I did. You can also download a free pdf of Boogie Woogie tune written by me in fiddle notation from my website at http://www.heavymetalviolin.com/Southern-Fried-Hard-Rock-Fiddle-Blues.pdf

Here is what the tune in the pdf sounds like:

Have fun!!!

The standard depends. The NUS one is quite elitist so they do have pretty much a good teacher (or so my friend claims, I'm not an NUS student so I can't comment much).

Or you can go to Yamaha. It also depends on how much you're willing to spend in terms of time and money. If you are able to dedicate weekly or monthly, a school might be a good choice. If you can only dedicate a short term, perhaps a private teacher would be more suitable.
