Bought in 1985, this was one of the first pro standard Ibanez guitars I ever bought. I still remember when I plugged it in the first time, I was in heaven! I felt lik this was just most wonderful guitar ever.. like how I felt about my gf many years ago haha.
This is their Proline range. It was a fully made in Japan pro electric guitar. This guitar came in a lovely fire engine red colour, and though color has gone a bit deeper through the years, she is still lovely. This guitar has the following main features :
- original design tremolo bridge with locking nut
- S S H pickups with indiviual mini on/off switches, a great feature
- the maple neck is just oil finished, for comfort and security in playing
- coil tap switch for the humbucker, built into the tone control pot
Obviously a guitar of this age that had been played and gigged with, is not gonna be all shiny and brand new. The neck is great, straight as a arrow, and still mighty fast and comfortable under the hands. Here's how she looks today :
The main things to note are just cosmetic wear, which I have tried to document in detail as follows :
1) Corrosion and rust spots on the hardware zones, such as briidge, bolt on neck plate, tone control knobs and tremolo arm
2) Some dings and scratches on the finish, mainly in the front of the guitar.
3) Comes with original case, red guitar strap. No hex wrenches supplied, but those can easily be bought cheap from anywhere.
The photos below will give you an idea of the situation. Anyway, I am offering this guitar for a cheap price of $280, which is really good for a genuine vintage japanese Ibanez. But if you are a fussy buyer, then of course I would suggest to buy any of those thousands of chinese, indonesian or nigerian made guitars flooding the market today.
