just curious about the diff between american p bass n american vintage p bass
i know that jet's bassist use american '62 vintage p bass, and the sound kinda cool, can sum1 please explain to me =)

I always thought JET's bassist used a jazz bass. 8O

Well, the vintage one probably has lower output, neck profile similar to 62 kind lor.
The american standard one probably higher output...

i need more specifics: is it a real vontage/ from the American Vintage series/ Classic Series? best if you can attach a pic or link me there 8)

differences mainly due to differences in:

1. Electronics- types as well as depreciation
2. Wood- mass/ source
3. Other specs- eg: fret type/ neck profile

..

the newer fender basses have the string-thru body option and also the s-1 switch to shift pickups from series to parallel modes. also included are the noiseless pickups.

the re-issues are made based on the manufacturing processes in the 60s. or so they say.

however if it sounds kinda cool, believe me, the bass is only 30% of the sound. its the amp and the production that makes it sound kickass. :)

yeah dude, what you say is true, with trace elliott, every bass will have a damn good sound [provided that u know how to correctly la]
btw thanks for reply dude =)

the American Series Fender basses have 2 stringing options: tail-end inserts or string-thru. some believe that the string-thru option gives better sustain, which is true to a certain extent. however, re-issue models with tail-end inserts give off equally intriguing sustain.
