Vintage 1973 Les Paul Deluxe for Sale.
Killer sounding, playing and collectable guitar in amazing condition. All original apart from a pro re-fret (original frets are in case) and has the original hard shell case. Guitar was bought in from US so is not known to anyone in the Singapore Market
Guitar has all mahogany neck which is period correct and dates it prior to 74 when Gibson switched from Mahogany to Maple for the neck wood. Pots are all original, all date 73' and serial number is stamped into the wood on the back of the head stock and dates the guitar between 70/71/72 which is about as close as Gibson got to dating serial numbers correctly in those days. Most likely the guitar was made in late 72 stamped with a serial number accordingly then electronics (pots etc) added early 73 hence their date of 73.
Between 69 and mid 80's Gibson made changes to their manufacturing process one of which was to not use two piece maple tops and instead use three pieces of maple for the top. This guitar is unique because it is one of the few that has a TWO piece maple top. When i say a few I literally mean a handful were made with two piece tops! There is definitely not another like this in Singapore and I challenge you to find a two piece for sale on the web.
Also, between 69 and mid 80's and certainly in the 70's, 99% of LP's were made in either Gold Top or the bright red Cherry Sunburst. This is one of the few that was finished in a Burgundy/Tea burst and has aged to a lovely amber colour in the middle with a nice deep reddish burgundy colour for the sunburst much more reminiscent of a 58 sunburst.
So, with the two piece top, the sunburst finish, all original, excellent condition and hard shell case this is a real collector that will increase in value. Plus it plays and sounds awesome, the mini hum-buckers are lovely and balanced giving that tight crunch with broad depth of tone.
Lastly, pick up most LP's from the 70's and they are around 10lb's or more in weight, this guitar weighs in at 8 lb's 15oz's and feels just right when playing, not to light but nicely balanced with great sustain. You will not find many, if any, early 70's LP deluxes like this out there and certainly not in Singapore.
Also, has interesting provenance which I will explain to prospective buyers but it involves ownership by the manager of well known US rock band. Contact for the story ;-)
I know there is no other guitar like this in Singapore, i have checked. Most shops have deluxes 75 onwards with maple necks, huge volute on the back of the head stock, poor condition, not all original, no original case and are asking 5k+.
This is a one off, you will not be disappointed, plus I believe this will move quickly. All my guitars are killer and usually are sold within first two days of posting.
