the vilest villains in (film top 5 )

1) Darth Vader
Vader had all the right elements an evil villain needs to scare an audience of popcorn munching movie-goers. The helmet, the suit, the voice and that heavy, mechanized breathing all made for an iconic big screen baddie. His ruthlessness in controlling the Empire and his lack of mercy earned him his crown as the most iconic dark overlord cinema has ever seen.

2) The Joker (as potrayed by Heath Ledger )

The Joker’s laugh has always managed to invoke fear into the hearts of kids everywhere. But the late, great Heath Ledger managed a cackle that scared the fully grown. This villain turned seemingly harmless childhood objects into one of the most dangerous arsenals ever to face the Dark Knight. A trickster with a talent for thievery, the Joker's twisted sense of humour turned him into that "better class of criminal" Gotham seemed desperate for. His lack of remorse and sociopathic tendencies make him one of the most spine-chilling villains Hollywood has ever seen.

3) Hannibal Lecter

Probably the most gentlemanly of the lot, Hannibal Lecter was introduced to us as a mild-mannered but deadly resident of a high-security prison. The fact that Lecter is a cultured and brilliant psychiatrist with a penchant for literature and classical music makes it even more disturbing when his cannibalistic, serial killing ways are revealed. With a biting wit (pun intended) and a frightening gaze, Hopkins' Hannibal is the stuff great nightmares are made of.

4) The Terminator (T101)

The original Terminator made Arnold Schwarzenegger a star. Arnie played the T101, a cyborg assassin sent from the future to kill the mother of a hero who holds the hope of all mankind. Not exactly the stuff of great lore but it certainly raked in the millions. He stops at nothing to reach his targets and this ruthless robot makes killing look far too easy. His efficiency and his unrelenting attempts to assassinate Connor before she bares her child makes you shudder at the thought of ever getting on this bot's bad side.

5) Lord Voldemort

This wizard was so evil that the very mention of his name invoked fear in the hearts of those who knew of him. Master of the dark arts, the coldblooded Voldermort was both smart and powerful. He did however have the biggest inferiority complex in Children's literature and some would say that was his downfall. His fearless use of forbidden spells and his Jedi-worthy mind-tricks made this wizard in a gown quite the frightening figure. Even more terrifying is his need to mercilessly hunt down his nemesis who also happens to be a teenage boy. One of the most iconic characters in publishing, Voldermort has certainly left his dark mark, in the world of Harry Potter and in ours.

among the 5..to me Dr Hannibal Lecter give me that 'hair raise on my back' kinda of feeling..coz he is very real..as in your 'next door neighbour might be one also kind of real'...

any friends here have other villains to share ?

ivan ooze from the power rangers movie! lol.

jokes aside, i think hannibal lecter tops darth vader man. like you said, he really sends chills because his nature is so complex. heath ledger's joker deserves his 2nd place.

I think Darth Vader is still the top. Considering he's not only one of the most vilest villians, he's got a somewhat, weird, cult following about him.

Heath Ledger's Joker really freaked me though. Creepily eerie and convincingly scary

Jigsaw anybody?

Especially, the ever classic quote:

"Luke, wah si lin lao bei arh!!"

(Lol. This is the Hokkien version of "Luke, I am your father". Had to put the hokkien one up for a laugh. it made me laugh, although it was supposed to be a very sombre part of the movie :D)

yeah man jigsaw... but if you seen the first Saw..he did not appear much till very late in the film..but yeah..he too give me the creeps

imagine these 5 baddies are in a fight with one another...i think Dr Lecter and Darth Vader would be the one to slug it out for World Heavyweight Villian Champion..hehehe

In no particular order

The Joker
- A hell of a villain, I've never come across a villain like him before. "Batman: The Dark Knight" was awesome and really dark. My kind of superhero film!

Witch-king of Angmar
- Appeared in all three films in the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. This guy just radiates evil, and he really seems a lot more menacing than Sauron himself. The Witch-king of Angmar's hide-away, Minas Morgul, is a terrifying place, too. Superb effects!

Darth Maul
- Darth Vader and Darth Sidious (and least of all Count Dooku) don't compare with this guy. Pure evil manifested in the form of a unique and sinister Sith Lord who barely speaks, further adding to his menacing demeanor.

Freddy Krueger
- Usual suspect. He is less frightening, visually, than Jason Vorhees, but to me Freddy is a lot more evil. I was actually glad when Jason defeated him (but then, he wasn't really defeated anyways, so...).

Jason Vorhees
- Imagine if he came into your house one night. G.G. man! Superb effects, one of the most menacing horror villains I've come across. But he has a reason for his madness anyway, guess he is more angry than evil. So angry that death was not the end for him!

Mike Myers
- Just like Jason, Mike Myers never speaks and I wouldn't ever want to meet him.

Headless Horseman
- Another silent fellow. But a damn cool villain at that. I still don't know much about him, but kinda sad that he was more of a servant-killer in the film "Sleepy hollow" rather than a villain with his own mind. Well, he got his revenge in the end!

Imhotep
- Not so scary, but he just radiates evil as well. I was sad that he didn't make a re-appearance in the third film. He'd have made a good match for the Chinese Emperor.

bro eugene...cool baddies but i'm kinda confused with the LOTR baddie...which one is he ? the one riding that bad-ass creatures and was killed by a woman ??

Probably a very typical and so Sian answer but

Health Ledger (The Joker)

Btw, I Rmbed Han played in ETD too, good stuff, with the claws and everything.

I never found Darth Vader menacing, i got put off by his dorky looking helmet. Darth Maul was way more kvlt and evil looking imo.

But, You-know-who takes the cake for me. Scary vibes from him on the book and the movie.

Darth Maul (Star Wars) / Nazgûl ( Lord of the Rings)
- the ultimate evil of all evils especially Nazgûl, the servant of Sauron.
