Versatile Guitar

I have been playing for already a year, electric and acoustic and i am planning to get a new electric guitar at the end of the year and i will have about 1.1k around there.I would like to have a very versatile guitar, able to play from Jazz all the way to Heavy Metal. Any Recommendations? Please help me with this

That's a huge budget! For versatility in terms of tonal variety and visual appearance, my vote goes to the Ibanez SA series, especially one with a HSS pickup configuration.

a strat would suit every genre, but my preference would be a superstrat, prolly eithera rg or a s series ibanez. you can get superb prestige models with that budget, but do note its more wise to invest in a good amp rather then play through some shitty 10 watter

well a LP could do it, but with its back breaking weight and compromised fret access, its a no go for me, well im saying this though i dig the tone of a LP.

I use a Parker Supreme. It's a great guitar because it has both custom humbuckers and fishman piezo. You can have thick leads for rock and metal or jazz sounds or fender strat/tele sounds. The cleans can be bright or chunky. In addition, there's the acoustic pickups so no need to bring along an extra guitar.

I can even have both signals going out at the same time in either one or two amps. (stereo or mono)

Plus this guitar is so light. I can play a 5 set gig without my shoulders getting sore.

If the Supreme is out of your budget, there are cheaper models like the "Nightfly" or "Fly"

Since you also play acoustic guitar, I think teh geetar that suits your needs best should have the following specifications:

A semi-hollow with H-H pickups (preferably SD JB/Jazz combo and coil-split/tap), fixed bridge with piezo p/up.

I have the said Schecter and I'm lovin' it. Absolutely a keeper. I haven't swapped the p/us but the stock Duncan Designed p/us are already great for jazz to heavy metal and anything in between. Apparently Schecter had stopped making the guitar. The only place you will find it is on eBay. Watch it in action:

Or maybe if you are lucky, get a 2nd hand EBMM Petrucci (good luck!).

Alternatively, you can forgo the piezo features and get an acoustic simulator like Boss AC-3. I think any humbucker equipped guitar will do (arguably, some peeps said single coils are also good for heavy metal) and can be made versatile with coil-split/tap.

In all, BE PRACTICAL. If you don't see yourself gigging anytime soon and just gigging in your bedroom, just grab any guitar and buy yourself a good multi-effect like the Boss GT-8/10 or POD X3L within your budget. You can get almost 'desirable' versatile tones from it.

And don't forget to invest in a good amp.

You've got lots of good advise here! But if you ask me personally, a guitar is something you yourself need to have the feel. I don't like single coils for rock solos and I don't own a guitar with single coil only. The clean sound is great I have to admit. Normally, I'd just mod my humbucker with coil tap...so I save the trouble of having a single coil on my guitar. I'd buy a guitar that I like the feel on the fret board. The sound may be yucky...and there's where I normally do some changes on the pickups or other replacements on my capacitor.

I don't have to say much about brands of guitars as many have said already perfectly. I'd advise you to try out those brands of guitars that's within your budget. The ones that really get you the feel on the fretboard....that's the one you should pick, and of course for you the soundwise too.

Tahnks for replies, anyways i dont really focus on having a acoustic sound just need a pretty good or play clean.Just want a E.guitar which can play many styles like i mentioned Jazz to Metal.Please help me on this!=)

Same recommendation as before. Ibanez SA series. They're very versatile, in terms of tonal variation, appearance, etc. I own a Gio version and it can play blues, jazz and experimental all the way to death metal.

IMO, A HSS Strat should come in well on this. Strats are good all rounders. You can probably get a new CIJ Strat around that price range. If you get lucky, you might be able to catch a MIA strat for a little more. on a pre owned piece.

But all in all, you will need to put the guitar in your hands and have a go at it. Its about personal preference.
