You can get a Bosphorus 16" Thin Crash for about $170 in Accent Music.

The below are my personal preference and opinion based on my experiences.
Paiste low-end set are not versatile - mainly for heavier types of Music - not Jazz definetely.
Bosphorus - does not have low or high end sets - they are good cymbals & are definetely Value For Money and make your money worth.....BUT
Bosphorus Cymbals in most of their BELL lack definition (the bell does not gives enough volume)....and though I say Bosphorus has many Range eg Traditionals, Gold, Antique, Turks, Masters to Signatures Type (etc) ....Most drummers prefer the TRADITIONAL - as it is more Versatile for use...so for Rock, Blues & Jazz - Yes you can use Traditional for Bosphorus.
To me - Paiste is my favourite Cymbals - I love those sound and if I want a Versatile Paiste Cymbals - I will only get the - Paiste NEW Signature - not the Signature Series....
Currently I'm using only Bosphorus & Paiste Signature & New Signature Series - plus Factory Metal Percussion.

The Turkish combo you mentioned is below $700 lah....definitely lower than bosphorus and Istanbuls...

haha....last piece left!! Its actually a private order for myself...then I thought I'll just throw in another...glad I did. Whoever buys it will not regret it...amazing ride! It sounds very similar to my Sabian HH raw bell dry ride but with a better sounding bell.

Another word of Advice...and a valuable lesson learn by yourself now.
If you buy Cymbals you do not like because of it's Value - you lose more $$$ when you resell them to get better Cymbals....It is rational to buy better cymbals (not entry level cymbals) - so the advice here is be Patience - save up - maybe 2 months buy 1 better cymbals and soon you will have a collection....it doesn't pinch too much too...This is what I did - I save, buy piece by piece...not 1 shot.
To me - If I have a Budget like you - I will definetely buy Hand Hammered Cymbals (Brand NEW ONES)...than buying Entry Level Paiste, Sabian or Zildjian...cause it's value for money as far as sound is concern.
But If you want Manufacturer Brand Cymbals - like Zildjian, Sabian, Paiste - then Buy Resale ones (and must be in good condition - dirty ok not damaged ones)
Come down to Music Lab - I really did tried those cymbals - They are Value for Money indeed.

Istanbul is the most Expensive here - But Cymbals are Shinning/Beautiful Polished Looks - Sound wise - I prefer the Bosphorus and Turkish
Bosphorus is about quite similar price as Turkish - but Bosphorus cymbals look unpolish - they don't look good for the eyes - but sound wise - I prefer it than Istanbul Cymbals. Only Disadvantage is - The BELL - try it and you will know what I mean.
Turkish same price as Bosphorus (there about) BUT Alvin says it's cheaper (Than that's a very good buy) - Cymbals are Shinning/Beautiful Polish Looks - sound wise - nice - Bell projected well...
Please go and try it - and you will know - what I mean.

Not alot of catagory lah....Music Lab students get 20% and all softies get 25%....
These cymbals are happening lah....I brought in the classic range first because it is their most versatile top-end range. I'm now performing with them and all my Sabians have taken a back seat....except for my 1st generation 14" HH Regulars which I still use once in a while.
Even Bani who is a Zildjian fan has fallen in love and bought a 17" crash immediately after he tried it. The reason why their cheap is because they've not really put their foot into USA. They're however really big in Europe. Bad news is they've just made their first appearance in the last NAMM and soon they'll be flogged by U.S. dealers and before you know it, prices will shoot up.

Make a comparison - between Istanbul - Bosphorus & Turkish....so that you will not regret it at end of day (like you purchase the Paiste before). Don't make a mistake twice.....that's why I say be patient - go try all...then you post here again after really trying them - tell us what you like?

Its just a decision made by me and denise. there is nothing wrong with giving softies more discount than music lab students what. Music Lab students who are softies also get 25%...its just a way to encourage my students to join soft! alot of my students are so unaware of the music community here. by joining soft, they can start to make frens, meet fellow mussos, start a band get exposure and moral support.....
