Using Sadowsky Preamps for a Marcus Miller Bass

it's up to your own preference. i've used the Sadowsky outboard preamp, i thought it sounded pretty damn good. i've heard good reviews from people who put the replaced their Fender Deluxe onboard preamps with Sadowsky's too. they said it got close to a real Sadowsky or something.

yeah but was reading around saying that sadowsky preamps are only good with passive basses. Whats confusing is the MM fender is both haha

Yes. The standard MM preamp sounds muddy IMO—sadowsky pre tightens up the lows quite a bit. Replacement is a simple job that any tech worth their salt should be able to do.

You'll have to remove the existing preamp on the marcus miller in order to install the sadowsky on board preamp. Quite a simple job. =)

The vintage tone control is nothing more than a normal tone knob found on most passive basses to roll off the highs. (Just a low pass filter)

Whether its "better" or not depends on whether you would use it.
