Using Cubase LE to create drum tracks

Hello everyone,

Ok I am not sure if this is an extremely noob question but it probably is.

I have just done some home recording with Cubase. I have recorded bass and guitar parts and I would like to do drum tracks. However I can only add drum samples and I cannot "create" my own track from scratch.

If any of u is very familiar with Cubase LE that comes with a FP-10 , please advise wether it is possible to create your own drum track with Cubase. I have loaded VST Instrument and chose Lm-7 as an out but all I have managed to do is load drum loops from a databank. I can't seem to change the tempo of the sample either or at least could'nt figure out how.

I do not have a Keyboard atm and hopefully i can create drum parts without it. Please advise!

1. Enable the VST instrument in the VST instrument panel. (in this case LM-7)

2. Create a midi track in the project window.

3. In the inspector, route the outputs of the midi track to LM-7. The input to your midi track could be your controller if you have any.

4. Set the left and right locators for a 4 bar measure

5. Double click between the left and right locators in the newly created midi track

6. You would have created a part. Double click the part to access the key editor

7. The key editor will have a piano roll on the left of the screen.

8. Click notes in to the grid provided to trigger respective samples from the LM-7

9. The first octave of keys will usually work.

eh.. i using nuendo 3
also got LM-7.. i did exactly what u said from step 1 to 6..but i dunno how to continue already.. i see that i can click on the left corner to get the sounds.. but how to start recording whatever i enter?
sorry ah.i dun have a midi keyboard.. i'm trying to doing it with my mouse. dun laugh..






wait wait..i see how its done already..hahaha.. got to right click and look for "drumstick"/"draw" button..then can click on them..then they will sound when its being played..haha..thanks a lot anyway!
