Usb Interface Route To Mixer?

I was just wondering, is it possible?

Can I use a usb mixer yet route one channel to another mixer?

If not where can I get audio interfaces that allow me to route to a mixer?

How about interfaces with mic outputs, can those route to mixers?

Thanks guys

It would be easier for us if you state the brand and models. And, what is the reason why you wanted to do it this way?

hi,

if you have seperate outs on your USB mixer, yes you can.

For example the Presonus FIREBOX has a 6X8 interface, i could route a signal or even the main mix to two unused outputs and send that to another mixer. depends on what you want to do.

i think it'll be good, like what soft said, if you'll give more details on what you wanna do with that seperate signal. like that, we can help you better with solutions on that.

Haha, I don't know what I want too, just a thought lah

Just felt it would be better to ask , thanks

XLayaR, everything is possible. Just need to know why you want to do it and we can help you do it better. What equipment do you have currently?

Ah thats the thing....

I'm working for my equipment and I got NOTHING at the moment, so I'm looking for best possible ways to work around my budget to get maxium recording quality

I thought it would be cheaper to route an interface to a mixer thats why I'm asking this question....

what do you want to do with the mixer?

if you have an interface, your interface would already have main outs on it that needs to be routed out to a mixer if you want to use nearfield monitors ...

if you really want a cheap alternative ...

a simple signal chain would to have an audio interface and use the headphones out to monitor instead, in that case you won't need a mixer and nearfield monitors but your mix may not be accurate ...

when you get down to such recording business ... it's not cheap ... hurhurhur ... i'm currently working on setting up my own home studio also ... that includes ...

1. Presonus FIREBOX
2. Event ALP5 nearfield monitors
3. AKG Perception 200 large diaphragm mic
4. M-Audio Prokeys 88

this alone sets me back around 2.5K ... *ugh* ... i'm going to die ...

mic out? line outs you mean ...

well, i guess with just the audio interface alone you don't get much of a routing option. everything else is just self contained.

anything is possible if you know how to route/use them, it's just a matter of how you want to record/monitor/mix/do your audio etc.

i think the best way for you is to ask yourself: what do i want to do with my audio interface? is it just for recording purposes? for simple guitar/vocal parts? am i looking to record a drumset? am i mixing for commercial purposes or just for the fun of recording stuff?

once you know what you are using your audio interface for alot of things fall into place e.g. the gear you need and DON'T need and how you do your routing and I/Os ...

i think it's important to know WHAT gear you need, if i understand now you don't have any gear at the moment. for me i'm getting the FIREBOX because i don't need so many inputs ... 6ins are more than enough for what i'm doing.

in the near future i'm hoping to get 3 FP10 racks and daisy chain them together to form a portable recording suite, man, that's going to cost a fair bit. *sobs*.
