Usb dac(s$200-300)

Hi nseals,
Correct me if I'm wrong,
It's a 3.5mm input. And I read the tech specs it says that USB is for charging only, I assume you realized that already.
So why not use your desktop audio out?
Are you looking for:
1) Quality sound output
OR
2) DAC specifically. (coz with $200-300 you can get something that records too.)
OR
3) DAC specifically just for your Audioengine A5 speakers.
And it'll be even better to tell us if your desktop is a PC or a MAC.

But the thing about your A5 speakers is that they take in 3.5mm stereo. :/
I can't think of a better way now, but you can use M-audio fast track's RCA (left&right) to a single 3.5mm into your A5.
As for Audiobox, you'll need to convert individual LEFT and RIGHT 1/4" to merge into a 3.5mm into your A5. (not sure if that's possible. If possible, not sure how lossy it would be.)
Just make sure when you buy the audio interface, it'll be able to feed into your A5's 3.5mm.
