Do you think NS plays an important role in Singapore’s Identity? Briefly explain why
Yes. Because our number 4 uniform now has the "Singapore" tag. lol.

Briefly outline the changes you have noticed regarding NS since its establishment
Better food. Shortening of NSF period to 2 years.

What do you think should change about NS?
Slackening of discipline. While it is important, what the army applies is ridiculous. It's almost like being under a force so evil it eclipses hitler.

What do you like about NS?
Just the friends I make there. That's all.. really.

What don’t you like about NS?
(most) regulars pushing sai kung to their men. If they want their pay (and respect), they'd jolly well earn it by working. The overly strict discipline methods are a big turn-off too. Wayang-ing, and of course, the white horse treatment. Oh one more... guard duty too, esp. weekend ones.

Has NS influence or affected your plans for the future
Obviously.

Do you think NS will/has impacted your forming of identity (e.g more of a man)
Being in the army doesnt necessarily make u feel more like a man. The term "from boys to men" is the worst line I've ever heard.

Army won't exist because of NSFs & NS Man. Only plays apart in defence. It does not forge any identity in guys, cause everybody thinks it's a chore to do conscription. It's like doing"time".

Briefly outline the changes you have noticed regarding NS since its establishment: "Centralisation" of units. No proven results to show it works yey. More "safety" awareness not precautions. More "openess". EG: "Low-Profile" Units allowing visitors into camp.

What do you think should change about NS?
Cook house food is supposed to be healthier, I'd rather take the money and go outside to eat fresh food. Cook House uses frozen ingredients, how is that nutrious?

Nothing

What don’t you like about NS?
Arrows by warrant officers who do't even understand a thing abt the job in the first place,It's a waste of my time doing irrelavant work to what i studied

Forced subscribing to ComChest just to meet percentage based results which unit is graded on. Yes! They grade a Unit on its charity!
Army Half Marathon also don't know why have a $12 compulsory donation card. Whatever happends must have $12 worth of donation in the card.
Card does not state which charity the money goes to. Don't donate? "Threats of encouragement" will be made.
Forced Chevrons sign up too. I didn't sign anything and I'm a member with monthly deduction fee.

Yes, I planned to work after NS, Now I must study to remember what I have forgotten while serving NS.

No way, if you are a man, you are a man. It's the mindset. No need to prove to anyone who's not a man. What identity when eveyone has to conform to the rules, wear the same uniform. Like mindless clones.

Gave between 10-40 days a year for 13 years for reservist....

i only think that it is already enough for us to go through Basic Military Training. i think the rest is really a tub full of bullshit . i dont think we really changed after going through National Slavery. we all behave the same. 2 years of my time WASTED for the government getting shitty pay and food. i can go out and work and get more money or even go for further studies. and 5 bucks for that kind of meal? i can buy a happy meal with a free toy. and then after you ORD, u have to go for 10 times reservist cycle ? Am i not SICK of being controlled ?? when all your time dreaming of having long hair and relaxing after you ORD u still have to trim your hair and serve . i dont really think the govt knows what we are doing, thinking that we are "training" for war when we are actually being mentally tortured by Politics and your superiors. There is no shitty WAR! so my answer is NO.

i think they should extend BMT for a year and thats it . no need to serve no need to be call back for reservist. maybe thats enough for me. they should really give the opportunity for those who volunteer as regulars. besides 1 year of BMT , we all keep fit and healthy singaporeans. hahaha

i like that we go back late every night and working for free "protecting" the country during weekends and etc2. (yes i am being scarcastic )

seriously and honestly NS made me discover the true shit of my own country and i am MORE HATING IT during my 2 years of pain and suffering of NAtional Slavery . so yea. i made me more of a man. it made me the devil.

no, let's face it, if so many countries have such strong identity without having to force-feed it to their citizens, it only exhibits singapore's failure to get its people to love it
