*urgent* electronic drum kit assistance

Where can I find used electronic drum kits in singapore?
What brands do you recommend? We've heard of mainly roland and yamaha, but were told roland is better.
Do you recommend buying these kits online? If so, which sites are reliable and reasonably priced?

I need this info as soon as I can get it, as my friends and I are pooling for a used kit for a friend's birthday gift. He's only a beginner, and getting a used one widens our choice range reasonably, as opposed to getting a new one. We googled this abit, and we seem to agree that the roland td4 looks very good.

THANKS A BUNCH in advance!

Depends on what you are looking for and how much you want to pay. I quite like the Yamaha as they have more range of sounds. If you have more specific details I can help you.

Roland is many years advanced in sound quality. I played an old roland drumset once and it felt like the yamaha's old DTXexpress.
Responsiveness and quality its Roland =D

Our budget is $1000 tops. We're looking for something which doesnt sound totally electronic, maybe a bit of an acoustic feel. But nothing high end required.

I would prefer a roland drum set but the price of it is steep, but with the v-edit functions, they are really really fun to play with! and try searching round the buy/sell drums section to find 2nd hand electronic drum sets :D

Then your looking for a roland... dollar for dollar comparison in terms of drum module ;)

The problem is, I've looked hard and i can't find any available used roland kit...Plus we're not even thinking about going to swee lee cause it's like daylight robbery there...Do you think i should buy some noob kit like ELKA, then try and find a used td-12 or td-20 roland module for the kit, since you said the actual produced sound is very much dependent on the module?

ok need a bit more of help.

I've settled on a second hand Yamaha DTX V2.0. Cheap, but not too bad. I only have a few more questions:

1) If I buy addons from elsewhere, are they compatible with this model? Like if I buy the DTXtreme brain, or a DTXpress cymbal or tom, would it be compatible with this dtx?

2) Is it possible to use addictive drums with this kit?

These are the questions the answers to which I could not find on google. The rest I already know. Thanks for all the help!
