yea as the title states. share ur views on yamaha guitars. this applies to both owners and non-owners alike. also it isn't limited to only electric; guitars in general. :)

i used to own a pacifica strat and after i changed the p-ups i realised i'm just not into single coils. wasted my money on the p-ups :( but overall, the strat was very well built. no complains about it. the vol knob is still better then any of the guitars i've ever owned :(

i feel their overpriced..
and u can get much better guitars at a cheaper price..
such as Shine, samick etc

Well the tone sucks pretty much, but one thing about it (and most of my friends agree( yamaha instruments are VERY durable.

The yamaha guitars mid to highr end are really gd.

Used to own the aes620, had a very nice clean and distorted tones. Only thing found the neck a little too fat so i sold it off. Tried the pacifica 812 at the store once, really nice tones and very well built. However wasn't into single coils at that time.

My main problem with yamaha guitars are that quite a few of their models use hardware unique to yamaha so replacing it might be problematic. Eg the aes and the rgx series.

Only the mid-higher range.

Using RGX620Z. Got it set up by Malcolm.

Plays and sounds like a beast now. Still on stock pups, no intentions of changing the pups as of yet.

Lower range ones; hmm try the others I suppose :)

Pacifica is one of the best mid-range guitars for beginners to start with.

I like Pacifica's clean tones, especially with their single coils. Sounds really good and definitely, in my opinion, provides the best value-for-money for its clean tones.

Hm, but I think for those Pacificas with 1-1-2, it's best to change the humbuckers.

I'm a big fan of Yamaha acoustics. Not much experience with their electrics though. I have an old, beat-up Yamaha F310 (it's a low-end acoustic) and it's very, very nice. Using it as my backup guitar now but it might become my number one in time (it's easier to play than my Ibanez). My only gripe is that only the L series have satin necks. Generally, though, I find Yamaha acoustics very impressive and would certainly buy another.

The higher end MIJ Yamaha electric guitars are really good - eg. SBG2000, SA2200, AES920, AEX1500, etc. However, the Yamaha brand has an unfortunate stigma for being UNCOOL or even "nerdy". That's because for many years people commonly associate Yamaha with classical guitars, pianos, violins, keyboards and even recorders (the one you play like a bad sounding flute in primary school during music lesson ;)). Plus being a traditional music school doesn't help with the cool image thing either.

I own an aes620, I love the tone but the thick neck needs some getting used to. The mid to higher end yamaha electric guitars are great but the lower ends ones are abit disappointing.

Yamaha basses are bang for buck also. I don't like their acoustics, sounds too thin to me but the LL series changed my mind recently after trying one out.

Their pricing is abit weird sometimes, I have seen a supposedly lower end model (in terms of specs) get priced higher than the higher end one.

Love this....
Had this for 15yrs

Plaid eh! Kain pelikat disign.. hehe

Seriously though, Yamaha guitars r very much underrated.. Neck feels better than most Ibanez & have one of best Floyd trems. One thing though, if they dont have Duncans or Dimarzios PUs, change them.. or u will have to one day.

& I prefer the older SGs models over the real ones & the Weddington are the real Les Paul killers..

own a RGX A2(HH), sounds pretty good and ITS LIGHT.

Compared the tones to a MIA Strat(SSS config).
Strat would win in terms of sound quality (brightness).
But A2's tone is more mellow(more suitable for rock-styles), and since its HH, want to upgrade them to soapboxes instead for better sound.

Totally agree the PUs must be changed.
