Upgrading: Guitar or Amp?

I have yet to own a guitar (might change next month when salary comes in :D), so this question is more for future reference.

After perhaps purchasing a starter pack to begin playing guitar with, which would be a better idea to upgrade first? The guitar or the amp?

the question to you before we can answer that would be, are you satisfied with your amp's tone? are you happy with the way your guitar sounds and feels?

Lol.... funny question.

Enjoy that new guitar b4 thinking about getting another one man. After awhile you might even stop playing. Pop this question up again when the time nears you wanna change something.

But if it was a starter kit you'd be getting, by the time you wanna change something, change both.

Lol, I guess. But I kinda figured this is the section where you can pretty much ask stupid questions like this :P

Just a thought, really, heh. Seeking personal opinions.

Perhaps taking the context of myself getting a starter kit altogether, then: If you have budget for only one, which would it be?

if you think you are gonna stay with your initial gear for quite some time but requires something satisfactory to keep you interested, a good amp would probably be the priority.

amp is more for home use , if you plan to perform , get a good guitar , start with the fender highways , but if your on budget , epiphones would do fine

You're talking to someone who don't plan on playing guitar for performance, just a tool out of many to make songs with.

If I had to choose between..

1. Fender Highway 1 Tele and a craptastic 10watt SS amp
2. EL Cheapo SX strat with high action & rubbish pups and a JCM800..

I would choose option 1..
Why? Because a good guitar articulates your playing much better.

Go get a new guitar.
