Unstrung Guitar?

Hi guys, i've searched Google, but i've got mixed answers, so here's my question.

Is it safe to keep my Ibanez SA260FM unstrung for awhile?
Will the neck bend or whatever cause thats what i heard online :S

Really? I thought they'd bend if you use too-think gauge strings on too-thin necks. Then they might warp. But if your Ibanez is kept well and dehumidified and cleaned up, i don't think it'll bend/warp. I only heard of warping when 1) the guitar isn't dehumidified properly 2) the strings are too thick a gauge 3) it's some 20 dollar guitar without truss rod and guaranteed to warp in 5 seconds flat.

Better string it up again... but do so slowly and gently.

I always re-string my guitars string by string. It causes quite a bit of shock to the neck changing strings by removing all the strings first and placing the new ones on later.

unlike basses, the 'shock' for guitars aren't so severe that it warrants critical attention (it's the scale length-string tension ratio). you can remove all strings from the instrument simultaneously to re-string your guitar.

if there are any reactions to your instrument's neck on any occassions, truss rod adjustment is there to address this situation.

Haha. Agree. Guitars are stronger than we think they are.

Just buy a cheap set of strings and string it up if you are so worried about warping. Spending the $5 now is better than blowing few hundred dollars you do not want to spend getting it fixed.
