ultracast snare and wood

just wanted to know anybody has tried the pearl ultracast anot?

been wanting to stick to a wooden snare for its warmer sound, but thinking of venturing into a metal snare.. want something to crack up alittle but still retaining warmth..

any other ideas would also be appreciated.. a million thanks!!!
