Ultimate-settings thread

Hey, have you guys checked out the ultimate-settings thread on ultimate-guitar.com before? I think its really cool and useful for many guitarists in search of their favourite tone and is a useful tool for many budding guitarists.

So pretty simple...just list which guitarist/band's tone is it...then...do the bass..mids...treble..gain etc etc.

example,

Kirk Hammet of Metallica
Gain: 9
Bass: 7
Mids: 2
Treble: 7

you guys might also want to add in settings for stompboxes and combinations.
Thanks guys

I don't think it is truly practical to have an "ultimate settings" thread..
We're playing through different amplifiers, guitars and effects..
And what's important is not finding others' tone, but yours instead..

I like my tone to sound "full", hence the emphasis on bass and mids.. My amp is generally darker and warmer sounding, so I don't need to jack up the bass and mids, but rather leave it at neutral (12 o'clock). If I'm at the studio with the Marshall AVT, I prefer turning the treble low the bass and mids slightly more than neutral (1-2 o'clock)..

The tone I've come to love is the neck pickup (MightyMite Vintage Bucker) tone on my Epiphone Faded G400 into a Rocktron Sonic Glory and a JH Classic Fuzz, slight delay using a DOD DFX91 into a Randall RG G2 series amp..

Yup, pickups and guitar all matter, My guitar with the X2N is a total screamer, so every guitar needs different settings.

Yea, I do know that our gears make a difference in terms of tonality.
If you like YOUR distinctive tone, it would be nice to share with others.
Tone is like the most important thing.
And sharing such EQ settings will allow beginners to have a rough guideline as to making full use of their EQ panel and know what each know does to their tone.

I know where you guys are coming from and I kinda thought of that man.
But thanks guys!
=)

i use these 'ultimate settings' and modify them to make them my own tone.well we will never get that perfect tone cause.....we cant.the only way is to get the closest to the perfect tone.

Well, imo, there's no such thing as a truly perfect tone. But it is good for musicians to pursue that perfection even though we know that there ain't such a thing. Constant trial and error and alittle bit of perseverance. At the end of the day, we'll get a desirable tone. =)

I've seen that thread on UG...

Most of the bigger names have already been mentioned there. So i'm guessing that you're looking for what kind of settings SOFTies use?

seriously, no matter how hard i try to make thread relevant.
it just doesnt cut it.
can we just close/delete this thread and move on?
