UAD-2 is launched!

In 3 versions - solo, duo and quad, named after the number of SHARC processor(s) in the card. Also comes in usual bundles like Flexi and Nevana. PCIe. They claimed 2.5x (solo), 5x (Duo) and 10x (Quad) the power of UAD-1.

Like the UAD-1, one can stack up to 4 UAD-2 in a PC, and can mix and match with UAD-1.

Most interesting part - more partners are joining in the UAD bandwagon including Moog. And they said that "more partners" are joining in. In their trailer, they showed an NI VST Plugin! This is really quite exciting if NI partners with them.

Also, the UAD software is now version 5. Supposed to support multicore, and the trailer actually showed the meter for 4 cores (although it was on a Mac - wonder about real-life PC quad core support). Yes, they did mention support for 64-bit Windows.

Wonder when it will arrive in Resolution...

They are actually shipping already. So shouldn't be long. But can get online if one is desperate :) .

Actually, I find the videos in their products page pretty educational, especially the clip on mastering using UAD-2. Learn quite a bit about mixing and mastering and what goes on inside the head (and ears) of the pros.
