U2 album a letdown
I have the album and together with REM's Around the Sun, is the disappointment of the year. The songs are not strong enough and nothing really stands out. They have lost the plot after Achtung Baby. I'll give this album two stars ... and one-and-a-half for REM's - keeping in mind that REM is more of a favourite to me than U2!
However, believe it or not, my fav album of the year is Tears For Fears' Everybody Loves A Happy Ending. Curt is back with Roland and this album sounds like the Beatles' Sgt Pepper/Abbey Road meets XTC. They have picked up from where they left off after Seeds Of Love. Although you won't find a Shout or Everbody Wants To Rule here, all the tracks are consistently good and the album flows! 4 and a half stars for their effort!

I must agree with you, Chris; I did went to try out the CD
at HMV and the only track that stands out is the opening one
- Vertigo. The rest is nothing much interesting, it's neither here
or there... .... half-dead middile of the road stuff. The last U2 CDs
I bought are both the 1980-90 and 1991-2000 BEST OF U2.
Thanks for mentioning TEARS FOR FEARS, I think better go get it.
The last TFT release was crap, so I didn't give a thought about it
when I saw it in Borders.

when PAP rules our life. Rememeber,
Singapore is a FINE country !??
Anyway I didn't get the pirated U2 MP3 CD,
instead I bought Sun Yanzi MP3 CD.
I'll get the CD with the limited edn DVD at HMV !!!
Consumer wins in the end in this music piracy era!
We get freebies and extras but did the music quality lacked?
