Types of sound.

i've often seen people describing sounds as having a 'tight bottom end', etc etc.
I just wanna know what other types of description are there and what does it all mean? What in the world's a tight bottom end? Punchy mids? What?!

Tight means constrained .. like Budget contrain ... hence it's "not enough.

Bottom means low frequencies ... which are Bass frequencies.

Hence i guess tight bottom end could be insufficient bass?

Punchy Mid means a strong dominant middle frequency in the mix .... cos the middle frequency gives body to the sound. Many people like high bass, low mid, high tre ... which makes the guitar sound very bassy and thin ... such settings are seldom able to cut through the mix ... drum and bass will drown it. Its best to boost a little mid to give more body to the sound.

If you are interested ... This is a pretty good brand for EQ ... http://www.alesis.com/product.php?id=46 .... the specs will tell you what freq is bass and which is treble.

Actually, it's rather self-explanatory.

As its tag implies, punchy mids refer to mids that pack a punch, a wallop, mids that have the 'ooomph', so to speak.

A tight bottom end is basically saying that the bass is very focused, very 'solid', as opposed to being very dispersed.

yup it ,means that the bass is not loose.. punchy...so as to speak
tone setting , muting and picking is the ingredient for tight bottom end ..
