Two Humbuckers with 3-way Center Coil-split Selector Switch

Hello ppl!

I have a Dean Dimebonics guitar with 2 humbuckers and would like to rewire it to a 3 way center coil-split using a 3 pole 3 way toggle switch. I recently bought a Dimarzio Super Distortion pup installed it and works nice but however would like to produce a strat like tone option from it as well. Ive read the "Two Humbuckers with 3-way Center Coil-split Selector Switch" pdf from the Dimarzio website itself which can seen seen from http://www.guitarnucleus.com/gitschems/dimarzio_2humsplit.gif.

However it states that they have used a 4 pole 3 way switch. My question is, is it possible to use a 3 pole 3 way toggle switch instead but still obtain the same result? And if so, diagrams would be much appreciated. Thanks!

That wiring diagram is out of the question because the humbuckers will be split only when they both are selected at the same time in the middle position, whether you want to or not. That wiring does not allow you to split the humbuckers when you select them alone. You mentioned that you want the option to split. You will want a normal three-way switching with a switching pot(s) to control the coil-tap

This first diagram allows you to split both at the same time with a single push-pull or a push-push pot (they are the same thing, switching-wise).

The second diagram uses two switching pots for each humbucker.

Have fun. Oh, make sure you know what colour each of the conductor specifies.
