've been in soft since last jan, perhaps too late for an intro, but here goes.

i'm basically a drummer of 14 years. mostly self taught, plus a few years in orchestras and a couple of private lessons. have been with the People's Association Lifeskills and Lifestyles as drum instructor since 2002. am now working for a church as music instructor. also a percussionist of 7 years, a guitarist of 10 plus 20 years of bathroom concert experience.

bathroom because i took part in the pu wei yi kang zhi ye kids singing competition in '92 and got buzzed out within a verse coz i had no idea what was a minus 1, 0 key or -1 key and i told the fella put it -1 key since the song was a tad too high for me and i sang to it the original key.

was tone deaf. the embarrasment took me years to recover.

better now. relative pitch.

i was active in a few bands, one of which i'm still with, Amber. for those who followed channel U's superband you'd probably know us. did gigs, paid and unpaid, big shows small shows...you know, the usual local chinese band route. never made it big, just made it meaningful.

've been with Ocean Butterfly music as composer and arranger since 2002. taboo, but my boss passed away before my song was sold to some m'sia singer. now i'm sort of left on the shelf.

played in the Ark (mu chuan) for about a year. did some arrangements for them. am the official drum instructor for them as well.

explored computer music a few years back, now doing music and fx for animations and demo recordings. learning curve is still steep. with everything i learnt i learn of more things i don't know.

i'm currently using:
cubase. reason. ableton. acid pro. wavelab. NI guitar rig. halion. bfd. powerbook g4. rode nt 2000. sm57. alesis usb mix. maudio fw410. maudio key49. presonus bluetube. krk rp5. monster cables. yamaha apx 6a.

i read Vikram Seth and Jeanette Winterson. i listen to DT, Neri Per Caso, Earth Wind Fire, David Tao and Eason Chan.

here's some of my stuff:

hahah AEnimic next time check the joined date if not the member will feel demoted; "what the hell why's some newb welcoming me?!"

you wonder why ladies are welcomed with 7 to 8 pages of replies and true blue musicians like us are given hahas and ding dongs.

oh well.

turbochicken, maybe you like to write your intro in the first post instead of linking it to your blog? coz i went to the blog and dont see much there about you?

tell us about your music , involvment, experience, gears, technique ... ya. that would gather more interest. i hope.

That was funny but hey... being noobs what would we know back then? My very first time into a KTV I didn't know they can +1 -1 too... disgracing myself in KTVs. LOL!

That's alot of stuffs you are using. I'm eyeing to learn Cubase properly, and try out Reason too. Alot of electronic music producers are pushing me to quit Fruityloops and switch over to Reason. Now I know who I can pester when I have doubts. *grinz*

FL is more for acid stuff, like acid pro. Reason is production, according to my limited knowledge. they're both powerful, in their own credibility.

but if you're talking about convenient production, unless you pair melodyne with FL, Reason is still the thing to go for.

too little cents.

sorry lah bro! sorry!

i n00b to the max one! :prayer:

But yea, I composed mainly with FL and haven't really touched the rest. It's quite straightforward for FL for me, someone without formal training. Alot of trance and hard dance people are using Reason, and also Ableton.
