Tuning Fork?

When I was trying to pick up guitar long time ago, there is this tuning fork where you place on a certain part of the string you are tuning and a sound will get louder to tells you the string is in tune. Anyone heard of this special tuning fork? I'm thinking of getting one but I'm not sure if anyone uses it, or one can even buy one now :)

Thanks in advance ;)

i thought mostly for use on classical guitar one.
but you use it by whacking it and waiting for it to vibrate.
then u place it on the 5th fret of the first string.
then there should be some high sound or smthg like that.
quite hard to use but it's the best method( or so i heard) to tune the guitar since only at that particular frequency will the fork emit a sound.

lol... the tuning fork cannot anyhow wack one, my friend's teacher, who is like pro in music, says that if u keep hitting the tuning fork, like one hard objects like table or sumthing, one day it will go out of tune too.
You gotta whack it with a lil soft thing, like finger, or ur head.... lol my friend always hit it with his head... comical.

LOL a tuning fork is nothing special. You can get it at most guitar shops. Nowadays, people just the electronic tuner because it is easier to use and get the strings in tune faster.
