Hey guys, i'm considering to change the strings on my acoustic guitar from gauge 10 to gauge 13. Do i need to adjust the truss rod? if so, how do i adjust it and how much do i need to adjust it? Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Appreciate it lots.
Thanks! :)

yes u need to turn da truss rod but its better u send it for setup. a heavy gauge strings will give tension to ur guitar neck. doing it urself might damage da guitar.

Hey man,

Read THIS article. Explains everything you need to know.

.10s to .13s is huge jump.

Either way, you'd definitely need to compensate for the shitload more of extra tension exerted by them .13s.

Cheers, (:

Are you using this particular guitars to experiment with non-standard tuning?

If YES, then it's ok. Double drop Ds, DADGAD & other open tuning is ok to use 13s, but do take note of action, neck warpage, bridge belly, sounhole dipping etc.

If NO, dont do it unless your guitar recommends this gauge. Martin, Taylors, Seagull, Larrivee etc, do recommends use of certain gauge strings. Check website of your guitar for recommendation.

If you insist & it's a cheap guitar that you can spare, tweak the neck to a back bowl & check for any loose braces before you start.
