Triton Extreme

Hi... would just like to know if anyone owns an Extreme? I'm wondering if it offers better keyboard action than the LE61... How about the preset sounds and the weight?

joel68 has TWO.

Perhaps, you could PM him.
Alternatively, the best way for you to try out the keyboard action is to go down to City Music if you're in Singapore.

Low....Master Joel here !!!

I bought 2 of them.. :D I definitely would say that the key action is 1000times better than LE..LE uses the cheap casio type keys where TE's keys are from Yamaha and sturdy...

Also the less wt keyboard among Triton series..Sounds are great and has Banks from "A to N"

LE's feel of playing is sticky and triton has the best action

Hey Starbright,

Go to Citymusic, look for NEIL there and he would guide you through...

Triton extreme

Hi ALL,

For the price of not more than $3000,
I did thought for putting it on my shopping list.

But I had heard comments from some industrial people
that Triton sounds are heavily copied and goes dated fast.

Is that so? Any comments ?

Still pondering what to buy with this year's bouus!

This is not a fair assessment of the Triton sound.
Please consider
1) if a synth sounds good, it will be used by every tom, dick, harry and his pet dog.

2) if you are too lazy to program or process the sounds of a synth to make them your own, don't blame the synth for sounding dated.

Why do think that a song can be written in a day or even an hour BUT producing/mixing a song can take days or weeks or even months.

only asking for comments

hi LOW,

thank you for writing again.
I know what you are trying to say,
I was only asking to hear comments from users
or better would be experienced users.

the question of sound go dated, means will it
go out of fashion fast?

glad to hear comments.

Bongman,

FYI...Bentley music is a subsidy of City Music..Same Owner..In Malaysia, Import taxes are high, that's why they sell at high price..Better buy here..

Regarding your question for quality of sounds on TE...I liked it..120voice polyphony and 160MB of sample ROM..USB, CF card...what else you need..

After you buy consult me..I shall advise on assembling a USB CDRW... :D

THANK YOU!

You must ask yourself what sounds you want and that depends on the type of music that you do.

thanks for the info guys... I totally agree that LE keys have a sticky and plastic toy feeling... I am however super satisfied with the weight and sound of the LE so far. Thinking of changing to an extreme but budget sure is a problem... Just wondering if the weight of the extreme is good for frequent travelling by public transport? Cause i carry the LE around now and it's weight is manageable...

travelling

hi,

my suggestion is you get a good tone module rack
and carry it around. it's not a good idea to carry
big machine to a jam studio, by the time you reach
there, you are a IPPT man finished running 2.4km.

i normally carry a korg x5dr and yamaha p50m to the
jam studio, midi it to the studio keyboards unless the
studio has better synth, then I'll use it.

LOWJK, thank you for the advice, I'm starting to feel I'm
a synth addict or collector than a user. Probably a synth
is different from those Casiotone and PSR keybd is the
sounds can be programmed. Better try tweaking than just
using the presets.

Triton LE 61 = 7.8kg
Triton Extreme 61 = 14.4kg

You can do the maths.

Thanks for the advice dudes.... I already have plans about getting a rack module... i was just wondering if there are good keyboards as light as LE and offer better key action than LE... anyway the preset sounds on LE are actually good enough with some editing i feel... unless it for recording purposes... i dun see a need to use racks...

Er, starbright, contradictory feelings here.
Anyway, if you are interested in a small module that you could bring along for your gigs, then you should look at either the Roland JV1010 or XV2020.

VX5050

hi all,

has anyone tried the Roland VX5050?
i'm not so familiar with Roland products,
especially the JV and VX series. needless
to say for the Fantoms.

Roland has a very good interactive website
where the viewer can test most of the sounds
as well as all the SRV expansion cards sound.

Fantastic and amazing website! Very interactive!!!

Hi there,

Believe me that the extreme 61 keys is freaking heavy to be transported on the bus and mrt. Unless you got a car or afford for cab fees.

cheerios

one of the reason not many keyboard player wants to play band,
gear heavy and also expensive... and many keyboard player spent
years learning to play, end up being a side-kick for the 6-strings monsters?!

the Korg Triton Le and TR are meant for giging.
good budget keyboard for performance.

another option is to buy a Radium 61
and bring your sound modules around
if you are taking public tramsport.

M-audio's 88 keys Keystation is also pretty light. But 88 keys are bulky and troublesome to carry around.

What about this for portability - get two 49 key controllers and "super-glue" them together (or somehow get them to stick on side by side) to give a 98 key controller. It is easy to program them into different zones and ranges. That will be pretty light and not so bulky. Then use notebook as softsynth/softsampler to generate sounds.

Only problem is that there will be a slightly larger gap between the keys from both ends of the two keyboards. Maybe the contacting edges of the two keyboards can be filed off so they can laid side by side.

I'm getting off topic. By the challenge of portability never cease to interest me... :D
