yes they are on par with Fenders, they are pretty nice for the price and im considering getting one soon

yes they are good guitars per se, but the Tribute series are Korean & are not the upper end offerings. still, they are well playing, good sounding instruments. i tried the Tribute Legacy models- they sound good to me mainly because i like ash 8)

..

in the beginning, there was nothing.

then came Fender.

it was all good till 1965 when CBS took over. Leo was forced to keep his talent under wraps for 10 years.

in 1976, Leo formed CLF to make basses for the Music Man company. They were called Stingrays.

in 1979-1980, Leo got fed up with Music Man, went to form G&L with his old friend George Fullerton. They continued to make new basses such as the L2000 basses and the ASAT (After Strat After Tele) guitars.

CBS gave Fender up in the 80s to Bill Schultz, who restored Fender to its former glory. Leo carried on with G&L till his death in 1991.

u forgot to mention forest white , fender's head of production who left the CBS fender shortly after Leo left .

forest white (he was the guy leo brought in the oversee production methods) made sure that instead of a messy system , fender had a streamlined , proper , in order and tidy manufacturing system that eventually contributed to a large portion of QC.

after both left , CBS who had no inkling of the business, hired people who cut costs in guitar manufacturing e.g Strats are made of a certain alder from a certain place at relatively high cost, why not use something else as a substitute . such poor business practices , sacrificing quality for marginally lower costs, gave guitars from the late 60s and 70s a very bad reputation.

if i m not mistaken Leo fender worked with forest white again at musicman for a short frame of time as well , but did not go as well.

Tried them when they arrived at combo shop, only gripe was the Legacy are very heavy guitars...maybe the few that i tried :? Most have immaculate fit and finish, hardwares were properly aligned too. For its listed price tag of 1k+, it may well give Fender a run for its money but keep in mind that tonally it isn't your traditional Fender...just slightly different.

I'm GASing for the Tribute ASAT Special ever since i tried it hahahaha

evil lemon! i cannot do this....in the midst of saving for a strat and maybe singlecut~ no p90-looking tele shall get to me lol

GAS is never ending. let me tell u what's gonna happend if u get a strat, your ibanez RG is already strat shaped, very soon u'll GAS for the ASAT again... so might as well BUY EM ALL. hur hur hur

I've not tried p-90s, so i can't really say much. But the pickups are not really p90s. It's just single coils but different appearance. maybe i try to post some sound clips.. erm... soon... next weekend when i'm at home more often.
