Hohner G3T

Err? yes! That does seem like advertising doesn't it.

Anyway regarding travel guitars I am not a dealer and I totally love my Hohner G3T.

Have a look here for pic and specs http://www.hohnerusa.com/index.php?322

Mind you, I did have to change the standard pickups that were a bit bland. I got some Bare Knuckle Pickups mail order from the UK. www.bareknucklepickups.co.uk. They're great too, but that's for another thread, another day. :)

yup nice guitar from hohner...i have one too...hehhehe

loved mine.

Very handy around the house. I usually have it stashed next to the bed. It gets more play time than my LPs.

I believe OP is from the OEM manufacturing partner of Lapstick guitar. Well, let's forgive the clumsiness of the blatant advertising, as not everybody is well versed in the subtleties of Web 2.0 style digital marketing, nor necessarily the unspoken rules and regs of online forums.

Having said this, the Lapstick guitar *is* a great guitar. I have one, and you can see me noodling on it (flubs and all) here:

This is easily the most portable travel guitar I have ever owned. I have tried the Martin Traveller (sounds rubber bandy) and I also have a Baby Taylor and a couple of other short scale instruments, such as an ESP Ltd. Kirk Hammett Jnr. Imagine something smaller than a tennis racket case and you are getting an idea of the size and portability of Lapstick. I have mine right here with me at the moment, in a hotel room in Seoul. Stayed up late playing it into the night jamming over some ii V i progressions. :)

Lapstick is not cheap, but it is handmade (in my case custom). If you get one, your quest for a travel guitar will be over.

More pics and review of it here: http://gitbuddy.wordpress.com/2008/12/31/lapstick-on-the-road/

Ah... Vern, you got a lapstick! I was talking to the lapstick makers about a single pickup lapstick (no built in efx and stuff) for kicks... but I lost interest I guess.

Hey Daniel

Yes - I got mine around Christmas. I got a custom order which doesn't have the preamp installed. I think I'd get one even if I didn't travel a lot - it's very handy to have to just pickup and play and put down on your bedside table, in the toilet, etc. :)

Oh! You didn't get the pre-amp... that was what I wanted to do too. Have a bridge mini-humbucker instead and the vol / tone placed somewhere else. A mini-portable-shredder guitar thing.

The tone sounded nice and fat on your video. That's quite surprising given the size of the guitar...

What do you tune to? A?

Maybe I should get one as work piles up and other priorities in life come in huh!

Actually i'm thinking of swapping out the pickup to something with a bit more bite but takes up a single coil space.

Yes - It's tuned up a major 3rd, so lowest string is A.
