Both 10" and 12" toms would do fine. Even a floor tom too.
It is possible to convert it to a snare but you'll need to drill the holes and obtain the parts. I guess all you need to do is to calculate the distance between each lugs and throw off + butt plate, drill the holes, get a snare side hoop and snare wires and you should be good to go. I think someone over here in SOFT ever converted a rack tom to a snare but I forgot who it was. Haha. If you would like to explore even further, you could even create snare beds, change the bearing edge or even make reinforcement hoops.
