Hey guys, what's the difference between a Trans-Tube amp and Normal one? Not sure if this sentence makes sense or not. which one is better?

This sounds so cliche but yet so true. Better is subjective, depends on what you want to achieve. (Ok, I know you're laughing)

Normal ones as in? The normal solid-state or tube?

Trans-tube technology, is basically a solid-state amp, designed to emulate tube circuitries in the preamp and poweramp stage.

Quoted from Peavey "The TransTube preamp tailors the gain level for the desired amount of drive, and the power amp responds to the preamp with natural compression that increases with the amp's volume. The result is a line of amplifiers with widely ranging dynamics and natural “grit” like a tube amp."

However much, it won't totally sound like a tube amp, imo.

Best is if you have a chance, to compare the amps side by side. The sonic differences can be quite evident.

i know this is an old thread, but i dont want to make a new thread, hah.
do i need an external cab/speaker for peavey's transtube series? specifically the rage/blazer. because theres a jack for you to connect to external speakers. dont flame me for this question please, becasue i dont need it.

nope. they're combos. u want more speakers? they just make it convenient for u. btw the transtube amp at blackwood testing room rocks my socks. uber good.
