This sounds so cliche but yet so true. Better is subjective, depends on what you want to achieve. (Ok, I know you're laughing)
Normal ones as in? The normal solid-state or tube?
Trans-tube technology, is basically a solid-state amp, designed to emulate tube circuitries in the preamp and poweramp stage.
Quoted from Peavey "The TransTube preamp tailors the gain level for the desired amount of drive, and the power amp responds to the preamp with natural compression that increases with the amp's volume. The result is a line of amplifiers with widely ranging dynamics and natural “grit” like a tube amp."
However much, it won't totally sound like a tube amp, imo.
Best is if you have a chance, to compare the amps side by side. The sonic differences can be quite evident.
