OK! James has been pestering me for it so here it goes. After a week of my guitar being malcolm'd and fitted with budz purebreds, i can only say one thing. DAMN it sounds SO much better then the stock pickups. Its way more articulate, for each of the individual pickups, and more responsive IMHO.
I was playing or rather learning Andy Timmons "Electric Gypsy" with my revived tele thru my main rig, i.e to say tele->tonepress->ts9(mid gain-ish settings)->echopark->'68 SF twin reverb, and the pickups respond damn well even when you roll off the volume knob slightly, you know, to hit the sweet spot with the OD and comp that kinda thing.. i seriously cannot imagine what it will sound like once my 'burst eternity comes in. heavenly. As compared to the stock MIJ tele '52 RI pups, the old ones,(about the neck pup) when rolled off a bit, sound really weak, and un-musical so to speak.. quite a significant tonal weakening so to speak, and the stock bridge pup tended to be (surprisingly) oomph-lacking.
The purebreds bridge pup has WAY more punch and kick (haha) even with a mid gain set OD, so to speak. As in it gives you a much fuller and richer twang that I really dig. And for the neck pup, your "gain-ed" tones do NOT get muddy. Again I cannot wait for my burst E to come, for me to experiment with the myriad of tonal possibilities. Then again, im playing through a tube amp, so YMMV... But this set of pups have really shone at both lower and higher volumes w.r.t the volume knob. Im really gonna have good days man!
All in all, a worthwhile investment. There you go James a.k.a j_m_s . Some GAS induction for ya!
