tone levels of pickups

just wondering... should a bridge pickup be high on treble and mids, and low on bass? and the neck pickup high on bass, low on treble and moderate on mids?

its all about personal preference :)

for me, i like my bridge pickup to have a bit of bass + more midrange attack & my neck pickup to have more treble & bass.

doesn't the bridge have to have higher treble so it can cut through when you're soloing

It's about personal preference. You can solo on any pickup for that matter. Usually a balance is what's important - very rarely will you want to keep the pickups on uneven perceived output.

i see. any recommendation for a HSH guitar? preferably something very hot for the bridge pickup

play a mixture of alternative/rock/metal

Actually, i prefer the opposite... Fat sounding pups for bridge and a lil brighter one for my neck...

cuz in bridge prosition, the sound tends to be brighter and tighter while in the neck position, it tends to be fatter and more loose...

thus, if we take a fat sounding pickup, say a tonezone, and put in it ur neck, we'd have problems trying not to sound muddy and undefined... and if we take a very bright sounding pup like humber from hell, and put it in the bridge position... i guess we'd have a very irritating glassy glassy sound and a mosquito tone though distortion...

thus, i like fat in bridge and bright in neck... i can do rhythm and all those chuga with a fat bridge pup (since it'll sound tight at the same time) and i can do some crazy sweeps and shreds on a bright neck pup which would warm it up and make it sound fluidy :D at the same time without it sounding muddy...
