Our first offer is a complete guitar construction course. From timber selection to the fret job, every step of the process will be taught and supervised so you will have an amazing hand-built instrument of your own at the end. Guangjun is the man behind Tombalek Guitars, his luthiery project started in 2006.
After years of experimentation, he will share with you all his skills and knowledge accumulated, guiding you through each step to achieve his signature fine woodwork.
The pilot program offered is a full 16-day program beginning on 13th September 2014, the course will be conducted every Saturday and Sunday over 8 weekends. The course material will cover:
1. Introduction to wood species and selection.
2. Introduction to the design of a bolt-on neck electric guitar.
3. Woodworking Foundation Skills
4. Neck Construction
5. Body Construction
6. Electronics Installation
7. Fret Job
8. Assembly and Troubleshooting
9. Fit and Finish, wood oils and waxes.
Course Length: 3 hours/day
Course Size: 4 Students/Course
Register by: 6th September 2014 to start on 13th September.
The pilot program is currently available at an early bird pricing of 2000SGD inclusive of all materials and a small toolkit for each student. You will have hand-crafted an instrument at the end of the program to bring home.
Partial courses are also available for:
1. Neck Construction for retrofitting existing bodies. (1200SGD)
(Includes design process of retrofitting design and timber selection)
(Kindly provide your own body to retrofit)
2. Fretting and Refrettting (300SGD)
(Kindly provide your own instrument to work on)
