Tips for a beginner

Hello Bass players
Recently, i just took up learning bass at a music school around the upperbukit timah region.
My question is, Is there any other books i can read to improve my bass skills other than attending lessons? I have read that the book titled "First Bass" is not bad. But where can i get it? And where is Swee Lee book store?

Another question, Where can i buy a bass set not exceeding 250dollars which includes the bass, amplifier and all that i need as a beginner? Where can i find such a set? and the bass must not be too heavy.

1. i started out with zero instrument/ music knowledge, was never into literature guidance- it's more about listening & playing.

2. there are bass starter packs (bass + amp) in stores but i'd recommend the SX package:

please check woth Davis guitar store if they still have it in stock.

3. alternatively, you can buy used instruments/ amps by looking at SOFT's classifieds

Any idea where is the Davis store? And how much does that set cost?

its at peninsula plaza basement.. beside excelsior hotel..

the package cost 250dollars if im not wrong.
