the book was much much better IMO. what's with the recounting of wonka's youth? and the oompa loompas were lame.
I don't know if Roald Dahl would have liked it.
of course the book was much better...there are some children's books that were never meant for TV. Dahl wouldn't have liked it because he had bad experiences with his books becoming movies (the Gene Wilder version waaay back was bad. very bad.) and the recounting of Wonka's childhood was quite wrong, agreed. (I could do a really long post about the mistakes he made but heh. shan't bore everyone.) at least this version was more true to the book than the first one. the first version had Charlie and Grandpa drinking the lifting soda and burping for like a minute to come down. :S
Just watched CORPSE BRIDE...brilliant...simply brilliant..classic tim burton with quirky characters only he can imagine up...a feast for the eyes...10/10...period 8)
does corpse bride have those sort of musical thing in it, like nightmare before christmas? just wondering, cause i didnt really liked the singing thing in the movie, although its still tells the story and all.
Corpse Bride do have some musical parts but not too much. they are kind of entertaining rather than whimsical as compared to Nightmare Before Christmas where i find is just too much of the musical and singing throughout. oh ya, the Corpse Bride Emily is just...beautiful 8O ...his earth bride Victoria is cool too...really think the jokes and conversation were very intelligent and catchy this time round....
yup. he revived the art of stop-motion animation when he used it for A Nightmare Before Christmas in 1993, I think. It's a painstaking art form that takes SO much effort to do. Every frame is posed by real puppets that are handmade along with the set, the props (tiny props no less)...he must have a damn dedicated crew.
haha..don't know about that...but what i do know..is that with stop motion animation...it can take an entire week to shoot 30 seconds of flim..at 25 frames per second..
er but corpse bride was pretty much a letdown. the only part that was nice was the ending (in my opinion la) and no doubt animation nice but plot was quite, blah. haha. the tunes also not say very catchy. was charlie and the chocolate factory a must-watch. regret not watching it.
