My recommendation!
Hey pal!
I just want to share with you about my likings.
My church actually uses the simple one, which i think is one of the more budget ones from tama that is the one with round cushion. (which i guess is the most simple ones you can find) A basic one actually can last quite well and it's like sitting on a normal cushion stool. But i get butt aches if i play for around 2 hours consecutively, so after practices i usually have to get up and walk around =P
how i'd advice is to find one with comfortable cushion. Previously when i was from band, they had a drum throne that was similar to Tama's HT530 drum throne. I enjoyed that throne alot because of its thick cushion as well as its unique shape as it allows more freedom at my thigh area. It's leather cover keeps your butt cool if it's in an air-con room and i doubt you can get piles from that kinda nice seats!
Of cos it falls down to your budget.

I never tried Gibraltar ones before, but they are good at hardwares i know.
So if another softie has any experience maybe ya wanna share about it?
Standard tama round cushioned stools offer the basics.
higher budget means more comfort.
but to me, don't bother going for backrests.
because if your sitting posture is right, you'll enjoy drumming without feeling backstrains.
Enjoy your shopping fellow softie!
