Fake or no Fake?

I wonder if our police is willing to drag their heavy "non-sizeable offence" ass to take action on such scams, if a report is lodged?

COA is subjective for Gibson LPs.. it depending on the year it was made and launch...
LP Customs before 2002 will not come with a COA except for few lucky ones.
I'm kinda rusty with all those dates but one thing for sure, if you guys are trying to look for the authenticity when you are buying, one simple way is to bring a long a small screw driver, asked to open the truss rod cover and if you see a 'normal stratlike' trussrod screw, then it's a fake.
Gibson's truss rods are one of it's kind, hence, they used to provide a trussrod key until recent years.
The white label sticker on the pick ups were found during the batch of Les Paul in 1998 and 1999 by the way ... My LP Classic Premium Plus had that too.

And it's always good to bring them down to Swee Lee to check on their authenticity. You can look for Adnan in the Bras Basah Branch. I'm sure he can help you guys out with no obligation. :)

Hope that helps for new Gibson Collectors.. :)
Cheers.

seriously eh? I ain't sure about COA's in anyway. I always thought for a 4k guitar they'd probably put a simple form of deterence like COA's against piracy. Then there should be all the serial number registrations and all. meh. maybe before 2002 piracy wasn't that great yet. I dunno... I won't ever buy a guitar more than 3k second hand i think. sounds super dangerous and dodgy. haha. In the future when I wanna buy a JP7 i would just order it through bgw.

I still feel its a pretty good fake only because the headstock looks good upon the first glance. usually for fakes, you can tell instantly without comparing.

I think he has been targeting some of our members here on soft. I thought I was the only one LOL! anyway, I think he must really be in need of that spare cash.

However, what do you think might happen if you scam the scammer? like ask him to trade his fake LP custom with a fake Slash AFD LP and ask him to top up. now that would be awesome.

He's probably looking to make a quick buck and won't put more money into the venture. At least, if he had any common sense he'd cut his losses now.

Really good to know that we have a lot of knowledgeable members here. Btw Bro Relinquish, judging from the email add. Most probably it's the same guy who were trying to sell me this sometimes back.

Hasn't contacted me since & I don't think I would want to carry on that kind of conversation.

@reez_rock

I like that mint green pickguard hanging on that rack he displayed the PGM on.

I'm actually curious about their asking price for their fakes. Also, aren't they afraid of some a police ambush when they meet up with their "potential buyer"?

Haha. Actually that photo was mine bro. He did managed to trade the guitar with me, I only found out that it was fake after spotted something is not right about the "f holes". Some Ibanez experts in soft gave me some inputs as well.

Ended up managed to trade the guitar back after I threatened him that I will make a police report

I remember that PGM quite well. Custom made in the Indonesian factory but comes with a Made in Japan tag.

haha, if somebody advertise his fakes as fakes, and offers a low price for it, i wouldn't be an offense for fake advertisement anymore right?

Guys, its only an issue if he tries to sell it as a LEGIT instrument.
If he clearly states that if its a replica or copy, theres no crime

unless he is a dealer for such replicas without the prior permission from the name brand, then yea.

just sayin :)
